PANASONIC MAKES LASER-QUALITY PRINTER EVEN MORE AFFORDABLE WITH CASH
REBATE, FREE TONER

SECAUCUS, N.Y, June 28, 1994--Panasonic Communications & Systems Co., a
division of Matsushita Electric Corp. of America, is backing its new,
vertically designed SideWriter laser-quality page printers with a
limited-time consumer rebate program. The program should hold special
appeal to small business owners and home office workers who want the
professional look of laser-printed documents but don't have the budget of
a large corporation.

Consumers who purchase any of the four SideWriter models between June 20
and Sept. 30, 1994, can receive a cash rebate of up to $100 plus a free
toner kit by mailing to Panasonic an official claim form, available from
authorized Panasonic dealers and in major metropolitan newspapers, along
with an original, dated sales receipt and the serial number of the
printer.

All qualified consumers will receive a toner kit --a $14.95 value --
directly from Panasonic. Cash rebates range from $50 for the KX-P4400
(average retail price $499) and KX-P4401 (average retail price $499) to $
100 for the KX-P5400 (with PostScript and free AppleTalk interface;
average retail price $799) and KX-P5400M1 (with PostScript and AppleTalk;
average retail price $799). For the location of the nearest Panasonic
dealer, consumers can call 1-800-742-8086.

"The vertical design of Panasonic's SideWriter page printer is unlike
anything on the market today," said Tim Curran, vice-president of the
Computer Products Group at PCSC. "We've introduced the rebate program to
give consumers extra incentive to step up to a laser-quality printer."

As its name suggests, the SideWriter printer stands vertically to save desk
space that is often at a premium in small businesses and home offices. The
printer weighs just 14.5 pounds, stands 11.5 inches high and has a
footprint smaller than 8 1/2 x 11 sheet of paper. All SideWriter printers
produce output at four pages-per-minute, are fully HP-compatible and
produce clean, crisp laser-quality printouts at 300 dots-per-inch.

In the United States, Panasonic Communications & Systems Company markets an
extensive line of office automation equipment that also includes: laser,
dot matrix and thermal color printers; color monitors; multimedia
speakers; optical disk and storage products; color scanners; electronic
filing systems; office copiers; electronic whiteboards; electronic
typewriters; facsimile machines; personal communication systems; digital
pagers; business telephone systems and notebook PCs through Panasonic
Personal Computer Co.
