PANASONIC DEBUTS TWO COLOR DOT MATRIX PRINTERS DESIGNED FOR SMALL BUSINESS
AND HOME MARKETS

NEW YORK, June 28, 1994--Targeting the growing small business, home office
and home entertainment/education markets, Panasonic Communications &
Systems Co., a division of Matsushita Electric Corp. of America, is now
shipping two new low-cost, letter-quality color dot matrix printers with
250 characters-per-second (cps) maximum print speed for increased
productivity. The KX-P2135 and KX-P2130 24-pin printers are ideal for
small businesses that require impact printing for forms and tables. In
addition, the printers are well-suited for many applications that require
color printing at a low cost.

"Small business owners or home office users can now print high-quality
color business documents at an extremely low cost per page," says Timothy
J. Curran, vice-president of Panasonic's Computer Products Group. "In
addition, individual home users can print colorful proposals, greeting
cards, banners and invitations."

Industry reports estimate that in 1994 one-third of the printers sold will
be impact printers, according to BIS Strategic Decisions. "By offering
these low cost color alternatives to inkjet printers, Panasonic remains
attentive to the demand for dot matrix printers and recognizes the
continued need for impact printing," says Mr. Curran.

Aside from being versatile, these state of the art impact printers are easy
to use. Both come standard with a step-by-step setup disk for on-screen
prompting of printer parameter settings. The disk controls seven
letter-quality and three draft fonts, as well as pitch, form length, power
default, and a super quiet mode. These features are also available through
the front panel for even greater flexibility and ease of use. Panasonic's
appreciation for versatility is exemplified by both printers' paper
handling design. Unlike some competitive models, both the KX-P2135 and
KX-P2130 feature a built-in 20 page sheet feeder for single sheet
applications, as well as a flat-belt push tractor for continuous paper. In
addition, a Windows 3.1 driver is included.

The "quiet printers" also print in super quiet mode (43.5 dBA), making them
easy to integrate into any working environment. The color standard
KX-P2135 has a $299.95 suggested retail price. The color capable KX-P2130
has a suggested retail price of $249.95, with an optional $49.99 color
pack for users who want to upgrade to color prints over time.
