Practical Peripherals Expands Scope With Announcement of Three Product
Lines

THOUSAND OAKS, CALIFORNIA -- Practical Peripherals announces it now offers
three product lines--ProClass, Practical and MacClass-- rather than its
previous single line of modems. This multi-family approach will enable
Practical to offer products appealing to a wider variety of data
communications users. It will also allow the company to remain competitive
pricewise, while at the same time offering advanced features for high-end
users.

For more than a decade, Practical Peripherals' single line of modems has
been recognized by many as the price/performance leader in the
marketplace, offering a high level of quality and technical support at
competitive prices. The recent drop in modem prices expanded the market
because new users are more inclined to jump in at the lower costs and more
current users can afford to upgrade. Therefore, we needed to re-evaluate
our customers and their needs in order to better serve this rapidly
growing market," said Jack Murphy, President.

"Our multi-line strategy allows us to provide the specific feature sets
needed by multiple business and consumer segments. We can now bring
products to the market that meet the needs of each of these segments, yet
are price-competitive in every category--ranging from the high-technology
user who requires an extensive array of advanced features to the
price-conscious user who may not have a need for all the high-end
features," Murphy added.

Practical's new ProClass line was designed to provide feature-rich products
to meet the escalating need for more cost-effective transmission of large
volumes of data. ProClass modems are targeted at the business or
individual user who demands technology leadership, high value, and maximum
productivity gains from their datacom products.

The Practical line of products is ideal for the small office and home user,
providing reliable, high-performance communications at affordable prices.
This broad line offers products to meet a wide range of needs--from a
28,800bps pocket modem to a 9600bps internal half-card.

Practical's new MacClass line was designed specifically for Macintosh
users, featuring special Macintosh enclosures and including the new
MacComCenter data and fax communications software from Smith Micro
Software. Initial offerings include two 28,800bps and two 14,400bps
modems.

Made in the U.S.A., all Practical Peripherals modems are covered by a
lifetime limited warranty and 7-day-a-week technical support. All come
with Windows and DOS or Macintosh data and fax communications software. An
added bonus to ProClass line buyers is the addition of WinFax Lite fax
software.

Practical Peripherals provides comprehensive technical support with
representatives available seven days a week, from 6am to 11 pm PST on
weekdays and from 8am to 5pm weekends, by calling 805/496-7707. Practical
offers 24-hour on-line support via its electronic bulletin board at
805/496-4445 and its forums on CompuServe and America Online. The
PractiFAX fax-back system at 800/225-4774 enables users to receive instant
information on Practical products.

Well-regarded by both industry experts and users, Practical modems' recent
honors include "Editor's Choice" from PC MAGAZINE, "Readers' Choice" from
BYTE, "Best Products 1993" from PC MAGAZINE, "Best Buy" from CONSUMER
DIGEST, "1993's Best Hardware: Portable and PCMCIA Modems" from PC WEEK,
"Best Value" from PC/COMPUTING, "Most Bang for the Buck" from PC MAGAZINE,
"Best Overall Portable Modem" from BYTE, "Best Buy from PC LAPTOP, and
