Proxima Unveils First Fully Workstation-Compatible High-Resolution LCD
Projection Panel

San Diego, Calif., June 6, 1994 -- Proxima Corp. (NASDAQ:PRXM) today
announced the Proxima Ovation 920--the first fully workstation-compatible,
active-matrix LCD projection panel capable of displaying 1280-by-1024
images.

"The Proxima Ovation 920 represents a major breakthrough in portable,
high-resolution desktop projection for the workstation marketplace," said
Proxima President Paul Eichen. "Just as its award-winning predecessors
leapfrogged existing technology, it offers several advanced capabilities
never before available in an LCD projection panel."

Among these are the ability to fit-to-view and zoom images and a unique
LightBoard feature that lets users draw right on the image. In addition,
the Proxima Ovation 920 is the only product in its class to offer complete
remote control of software through Proxima's unique Cyclops cordless
mouse.

"Each of these advanced capabilities introduces new and more powerful ways
to display and work with computer and video information," said Proxima
president Paul Eichen. "Designed specifically for use in a wide range of
workstation tasks, they help to make the Proxima Ovation 920 the optimum
portable desktop projection solution for the workstation market."

Fit to View

Central to the product's utility as a workstation peripheral is its
fit-to-view feature. Achieved through innovative compression techniques,
it allows the Proxima Ovation 920 to display the highest resolution images
of any active matrix LCD projection panel.

"Fit-to-view automatically resizes a 1280-by-1024 image to fit a
1024-by-768 display area while preserving its original pixel ratio,"
explained Eichen. "By rescaling each individual pixel, it produces a
precise image with near-perfect image fidelity suitable for the most
demanding workstation applications."

Fit-to-view's scaling capability can also be used to move around or pan a
larger image. "The pan mode allows users to expand a section of a
1280-by-1024 image while maintaining its exact proportions," said Eichen.
"This makes it ideal for applications such as architectural drawings and
3-D imaging where precise size and shape are crucial."

Zoom

Further enhancing the Proxima Ovation 920's utility is its unique zoom
capability. "The zoom mode allows a 640-by-480 image to be blown up to
fill the entire screen for improved readability," said Eichen. "It's a
great advantage for video users because it allows the projected image size
to be maximized."

Data Rate

With a data rate of 135 megahertz, the Proxima Ovation 920 offers the
highest bandwidth compatibility of any LCD projection panel. This allows
it to be interfaced with the highest speed workstations directly at their
highest resolution mode. It also allows future expansion to higher
resolutions and faster data rates.

LightBoard

Proxima's innovative LightBoard feature lets users add information directly
to the projected image, regardless of application. They can highlight
important points, append notes, draw diagrams, or even clear the entire
screen and write on it as you would a traditional white board. In addition
to enhancing any workgroup meeting, this feature is ideal for use in areas
such as medical imaging where highlighting a specific section of the
picture is often a requirement.

Cyclops

A special version of Proxima's unique Cyclops interactive pointer system
(Model A2050) gives users complete remote control of both their computer
and software, as well as the new LightBoard feature. Among the optional
unit's advanced features are a high-resolution camera for more accurate
cursor positioning, a new processor for rapid cursor tracking, and a
totally integrated, snap-in design that eliminates the need for
realignment.

Capable of projecting more than 2 million true colors (from a palette of
16.7 million), the Proxima Ovation 920 incorporates a 10.4-inch LCD panel
and Proxima's proprietary Active Color Enhancement (A.C.E.) technology for
superior image quality. Twenty-four bit video processing provides
brilliant truecolor matching, while intuitive controls and a graphical
user interface ensure ease of use.

Compatible with all popular workstation and PC platforms, the Proxima
Ovation 920 is capable of displaying video resolutions ranging from 640 by
480 all the way up to 1280 by 1024. A digital video controller projects
all three international video standards, as well as S-VHS.

Priced at $14,595 (U.S. suggested retail), the new product will be
available July 1, 1994, through value-added resellers and workstation
distribution channels.
