DIGITAL ANNOUNCES NETWORK PRINTER FOR NOVELL NETWARE ENVIRONMENTS

NEW YORK, NY -- June 28, 1994 -- Digital Equipment Corporation today
announced a network printer that prints directly from Novell NetWare
networks. The PrintServer 17/600 Network Printer for NetWare environments,
which has been Tested and Approved by Novell, includes, in the box,
Digital's PrintServer software for NetWare systems, and network interfaces
for Novell networks. The printer enables PC users in NetWare environments
to print directly from any application, with the bi-directional, real-time
printer and print job status communication inherent in Digital's network
printing software. The announcement was made at the PC EXPO Conference,
which opened here today at the Jacob Javits Convention Center.

Digital's PrintServer 17/600 Printer for NetWare environments provides user
selection of input and output tray, duplex (double-sided printing), or
simplex (single-sided printing), automatic jam recovery, number-up
formatting (multiple page images, up to 100, on a single sheet), automatic
emulation detection and automatic conversion of ASCII to PostScript format
-- all from remote locations.

"The extension of Digital's network printing leadership to Novell NetWare
environments demonstrates our commitment to open systems," said Larry
Cabrinety, Vice President of Digital's Components and Peripherals Business
Unit. "Desktop PC users on Novell NetWare networks can now join those on
AT&T Unison, HP-UX, IBM AIX, Pyramid OSx, SCO UNIX, Sequent Dynix, Silicon
Graphics IRIX, Solaris, SunOS, UNISYS System V, Windows NT, ULTRIX, DEC
OSF/1 AXP, OpenVMS networks, or any combination of these environments, to
access the level of network printing which only Digital can provide."

Digital's 70,000 impression/month PrintServer 17/600 Printer for NetWare
environments includes Thin and Twisted Pair Ethernet connectors, supports
NetWare V3.11, V3.21, and V4.x, and uses NetWare's built-in TCP/IP stack
and Novell's recommended bindery emulation (for V4.x users). The printer
includes Adobe PostScript Level 2, PCL-5, 600 X 600 dpi resolution, is
priced at $4,695, and is available in August.
