Datatech Enterprises Demonstrates PowerPC System at PC EXPO

Taiwan NewPC Consortium member unveils future plans for PowerPC
microprocessors

NEW YORK, NY -- June 28, 1994 -- Datatech Enterprises (DTK) is
demonstrating its first prototype PowerPC 601 system at PC Expo in New
York, NY on June 28-30 and is unveiling its future PowerPC product plans.
The company is also designing PowerPC 603 and PowerPC 604 systems,
scheduled for volume production in the first quarter of 1995. In addition,
DTK plans to design a multi-processing system based on two PowerPC 601
microprocessors, scheduled to be announced in the first quarter of 1995.

Targeting original equipment manufacturers (OEMs) and original design
manufacturers (ODMs) in the desktop arena, DTK's PowerPC 601 systems will
support a wide range of operating systems, including Windows NT, AIX,
OS/2, and Solaris. These systems are based on a 66MHz or 80MHz PowerPC 601
microprocessor and provide upgrade and expansion support for either the
Baby AT or Western Digital form factors. The Baby AT form factor includes
a CPU upgrade/level 2 cache socket, three 33MHz PCI slots and five ISA
slots. The Western Digital form factor includes a CPU upgrade/level 2
cache socket, two 33MHz PCI slots and two ISA slots.

"PowerPC microprocessors' price/performance advantage enables DTK to
provide high-performance systems that contend in today's competitive
worldwide marketplace,'' said Jeffer Wang, PowerPC product marketing
manager, DTK Enterprises Workstation Division. "By becoming an early
PowerPC RISC adopter, we believe DTK will prosper in Taiwan's emerging
computing marketplace."

DTK is one of the initial members of the Taiwan NewPC Consortium (TNPC), an
organization originated by Computer and Communications Research
Laboratories (CCL) and the Taiwan Electronic Appliance Manufacturers'
Association (TEAMA) to combine the resources of Motorola, IBM and 31 major
Taiwan computer companies for joint development and promotion of PowerPC
systems. Earlier this month, at the Computex trade show in Taiwan, six
consortium members debuted their first PowerPC 601 systems.

"PowerPC microprocessors provide the computing marketplace with more
flexibility, better price/performance and an open systems solution," said
Phil Pompa, director of marketing, Motorola RISC Microprocessor Division.
"As a result, DTK and other manufacturers worldwide are aggressively
pursuing development plans in the RISC desktop marketplace to capitalize
on these opportunities."

The PowerPC family of microprocessors, jointly designed by Apple, IBM and
Motorola, is designed to address a wide range of computing requirements
from portable and desktop computers to midrange workstations and servers,
to multiprocessing, fault-tolerant and supercomputing systems. PowerPC
microcontrollers also will be used for embedded control applications in
automotive and consumer products.

The PowerPC microprocessor family provides the most pervasive software
support of any microprocessor in the industry. With PowerPC computers,
users can run System 7, AIX and OS/2, DOS, and Windows software today and
will be able to run NetWare 4, PowerOpen, Solaris, Taligent, and Windows
NT software in the future.

Having 1993 worldwide sales of $5.7 billion, Motorola's Semiconductor
Products Sector is the largest U.S.-based broad line supplier of
semiconductors, with a balanced portfolio of more than 50,000 devices.
Motorola is one of the world's leading providers of wireless
communications, semiconductors, and advanced electronic systems and
services. Major equipment businesses include cellular telephone. two-way
radio, paging and data communications, personal communications,
automotive, defense and space electronics and computers. Communication
devices, computers and millions of consumer products are powered by
Motorola semiconductors. Motorola's 1993 sales were $17 billion.

Since it was founded in 1982, Datatech Enterprises has grown to be one of
the largest Taiwanese computer companies. Continuous innovation and
development of new products account for the company ' s optimistic growth
forecast. Datatech products include mainboards, computer systems,
add-on-cards and power supplies. Last year, Datatech was presented an
award in excellence in import/export manufacturing by the ROC Ministry of
Economic Affairs for significant achievements in diversifying the overseas
market and for distinguished services as independent producer of goods for
the foreign market.
