MICROPOLIS BREAKS THE DOLLAR PER MEGABYTE BARRIER FOR RAID 5 FAULT-TOLERANT
STORAGE SOLUTIONS

Newest RAIDION Disk Array Offers Over a Quarter of a Terabyte of User
Storage

CHATSWORTH, California -- June 28, 1994 -- Micropolis today introduced a
new high-capacity model of its RAIDION LS line of modular disk arrays for
Novell NetWare 3.11/4.0, OS/2, and LAN Server users that offers the
industry's lowest cost per megabyte and provides up to 282 gigabytes (GB)
of fault-tolerant data storage per array.

The new RAIDION LS 18000 is offered at 99 cents per megabyte for a
three-module 18.2 GB configuration. Additional storage is priced as low as
66 cents per megabyte for an individual 9.1 GB module, making the RAIDION
LS 18000 the lowest cost per megabyte RAID 5 disk array.

The new model is based on a customized version of the Micropolis 9.1 GB
high-performance, 5.25-inch disk drive. The modular architecture of the
RAIDION LS 18000 allows the array to be expanded, one module at a time, up
to 32 modules, for a maximum capacity of 282 GB of user storage.

"Corporations and government agencies downsizing to LAN-based servers
require very high-capacity, cost-effective storage for their
business-critical applications," said Joel Appelbaum, executive vice
president and general manager, Storage Systems Division, Micropolis
Corporation. "For less than a dollar per megabyte, the RAIDION LS 18000
allows network administrators to expand their systems to over a quarter of
a terabyte of fault-tolerant data storage."

The modular expansion capability of the RAIDION LS 18000 permits low cost
of entry, ease of expandability, and increased performance. The array is
also easy to service because each self-contained module includes its own
disk drive, cooling fan, and power supply. If a module fails, it is
quickly and easily replaced.

To assure the highest level of fault tolerance, RAIDWARE For NetWare or
OS/2 software features "On-line Spare" that automatically activates a
standby module, and "Hot Replacement" which allows users to replace a
failed disk drive module in the array without interrupting file server
operation.

Available in mid-August, list price for a three-module 18.2 GB array is
$17,985. Additional 9.1 GB modules are priced at $5,995. RAIDION LS 18000
is available through authorized Micropolis distributors and resellers
worldwide. For the location of the nearest Micropolis sales office, call
