SAMSUNG ATTACKS VALUE MARKET WITH NEW LINE OF SYNCMASTER MONITORS

Aggressive Move Targets Heart of 14" and 15" Monitor Market

June 28, 1994 -- Ridgefield Park, NJ -- Samsung Electronics America, Inc.
(SEA) has launched an aggressive attack on the "value" segment of the
monitor market by introducing a new line of SyncMaster models that offer
affordability, performance and power management. The spearhead for this
assault is a new 15-inch model.

John R. Grundy, Product Marketing Manager for Monitors, said, "This power
move marks a dramatic shift in our marketing strategy. We're moving to a
two-pronged approach with our attack. Samsung's GL series will continue to
challenge products from high-end competitors, while our new 'economy'
series hits at the heart of the 14-inch and 15-inch market.

"We are getting back to basics, by developing the SyncMaster 'economy' line
that meets the needs of the biggest segment of consumers. First, we
upgraded and improved two of our existing 14-inch models, the SyncMaster 3
and 3Ne, by adding a power-down feature that cuts operating costs. Next,
we expanded the line by introducing the SyncMaster 4Ne, a 15-inch
non-interlaced monitor that produces brilliant, clear images. The 4Ne is
engineered to support graphic applications on Macs and PCs."

All three models offer .28mm dot pitch, 1024 x 768 resolution and rapid
refresh rates. The SyncMaster 4Ne has a highly polished screen and an
INVAR shadow mask that provides brighter and richer colors.

The SyncMaster 3, 3Ne and 4Ne have power management systems that operate at
four levels: on, stand by, suspend, and off. In the on mode, the monitor
runs at 100 percent power (approximately 90 watts). Energy use falls to 72
watts in the stand-by mode, there is no video on the screen. In the
suspend mode, the monitor draws less than 30 watts of electricity. In the
off state, it consumes less than 8 watts of power.

Each SyncMaster monitor in the value line comes with a warranty that covers
parts and labor for two years. The Manufacturers Suggested Retail Price
for the SyncMaster 3 (Model CVM4967P) is $339.00, the 3Ne (Model CVP4237P)
is $359.00 and the 4Ne (Model CSN5987) is $370.00.
