SAMSUNG INTRODUCES SYNCMASTER GL FAMILY OF 14. 15. 17-INCH HIGH PERFORMANCE
COLOR MONITORS

Technologically Advanced GL Monitors Provide Significant Improvement in
Image Quality, Enhanced Ergonomics, and Power Usage

June 28, 1994 -- Ridgefield Park, NJ -- Samsung Electronics America, one of
the world's leading producers of personal computer products, is now
shipping its technologically advanced SyncMaster GL series of 14, 15 and
17-inch high performance green monitors. The GL series has been completely
redesigned for even brighter, crisper images and improved ease of use. The
high end 17 GLs includes such advanced features as On Screen Programming
and RealColor, Samsung's color control system. In addition, the whole
product line incorporates a power management function to reduce energy
consumption.

The flat-screen, 17-inch GLs is engineered for high end graphic
applications. The monitor has On Screen Programming and digital controls
on the front panel that help users make rapid and highly accurate screen
adjustments. Digital readouts for each adjustment are clearly displayed on
the monitor screen and can be stored for future use. The SyncMaster 17 GLs
has .26mm dot pitch and has a recommended resolution of 1280x1024 at 76 Hz
providing a flicker free image, and supports 1600x1280.

The 17 GLs combines several innovative features to produce bright, crisp
clear images. The Dynamic Focus creates sharp images in every portion of
the screen from the center to the corners. The Invar shadow mask increases
the brightness of the display and gives colors a greater richness. The
RealColor control system enables the user to adjust saturation and hue to
assure consistent color quality between the display and input/output
devices.

According to John Grundy, Product Marketing Manager for Monitors, "Our
strategy for the new GL monitor line follows the course, set by Samsung
Group Chairman Kun Hee Lee, of achieving maximum product quality thus
increasing the overall value to our customers. We have aggressively
invested in R&D, product design, production capabilities and quality
control. This has dramatically improved the monitor line by enhancing its
performance and quality. We are using this continuous improvement process
to develop Samsung's other big screen models."

The SyncMaster GL monitors are equipped with a built-in power management
system that offers significant reduction in energy usage. Samsung's
SyncMaster GL monitors have the PowerSaver feature that operates at four
different levels: on, stand-by, suspend and off when used in conjunction
with a VESA compatible video board. In the on mode the monitors run at 100
percent power, energy usage drops to less than 80 percent in the standby
condition, the screen has no video and power recovery is instantaneous. In
the suspend mode power consumption falls to less than 30 watts, and
recovery takes only 3 seconds. In
the off state, the energy usage drops to less than five watts of power and
recovery time is slightly longer.

Samsung is one of leaders in producing green monitors that meet or exceed
industry standards for energy usage. The SyncMaster GL conforms to Video
Electronics Standards Association (VESA) guidelines for power management.
Samsung has also been recognized by the Environmental Protection Agency's
Energy Star Program for its efforts on the GL series.

The new SyncMaster series was engineered to improve and enhance the
computing environment. The GL series monitors have numerous features such
as high refresh rates and Dynamic Focus, that make it easier to work in
front of the screen for many hours at a time. The new monitors are all MPR
II certified to meet the tough Swedish standard for low ELF/VLF radiation
emissions.

The SyncMaster GL series are 100 percent compatible with PC, Macintosh and
workstation environments. The monitors support VGA, SVGA, 8514/A, 1024x768
and the 17GLs also supports 1280x1024.

The Manufacturers Suggested Retail Price (MSRP) for the 17-inch SyncMaster
17GLs is $949.00, the 17GL is $849, the 15GL is $560 and the 14GL is
$399.00.
