SAMSUNG INTRODUCES THE NOTEMASTER 486s/50 FOR POWER NOTEBOOK USERS

Upgradable Notebook Has Active-Matrix Display, Ergonomic Design, and Low
Voltage Chip

June 28, 1994 -- RIDGEFIELD PARK, NJ -- Samsung Electronics America (SEA)
has introduced the durable, upgradable and expandable NoteMaster 486s/SOP
(Model S3945T) that is engineered to meet the mobile computing needs of
power notebook users.

The full-featured NoteMaster is powered by an enhanced Intel 486DX2/50 chip
that draws just 3.3 volts of power. This portable computer is equipped
with 8MB of RAM expandable to 20MB, standard 340MB hard disk drive, local
bus video, Graphical User Interface (GUI) accelerator, and 8K cache
memory. The unit weighs 6.2 pounds, has a 9.4-inch TFT active matrix
screen, integrated pointing device, and PCMCIA Type II & m slots for
expandability. Available ports include parallel, serial, external monitor
keyboard/keypad and CableMaster port.

The notebook PC can be upgraded by installing a variety of processors
including a DX4 chip that runs at speeds up to 100MHz.

Standard features include a 3.5", 1.44MB floppy disk drive and a removable
2.5" hard drive. The NoteMaster 486 notebook comes with the latest
versions of MS-DOS and MS-Windows.

Samsung has produced the notebook's crisp and bright TFT color LCD display
at its manufacturing facilities. The screen has a 640 x 480 resolution and
the notebook can support an external SVGA monitor with 1024 x 768
resolution at 256 colors.

Model S3945T has an energy management system with a hibernation mode,
suspend/resume function, smart sleep function and low battery alarm. The
rechargeable NiMH power supply drives the unit for up to three hours.

The new NoteMaster notebook can double as a desktop unit. Samsung has also
introduced an optional CableMaster port replicator for the NoteMaster that
offers one-step connections to peripherals -- external keyboard, monitor,
printer, mouse, etc.

Jeff Edelstein, Senior Product Manager for Portable Computers, said,
"Engineers, industrial designers, quality-control experts and technicians
at Samsung Electronics Company, Ltd., our parent company, have developed a
high-performance color notebook that is powerful and durable enough to
withstand rough handling on the road. The development team also focused on
issues like ease-of-use, ergonomic styling and design.

"For example, the surfaces around the built-in track ball and corners of
the notebook case have been tapered and rounded. The design improves
ease-of-use and provides more comfort even when working in a cramped space
like an airplane seat. "

All the notebook's key controls have been placed around the keyboard for
easy access. This includes the screen-contrast control and the on-off
button.

The NoteMasters also have a light-touch keyboard, dual-tone styling and a
one-touch fastener that makes it easier to open and close the notebook.

The Manufacturer's Suggested List Price for NoteMaster Model S3945T is
$3,999. The notebook PC is 11.3" wide by 9.94" deep and 2.23" high.
Customer support, which is available from 9 AM to 6 PM, includes a
toll-free number, two-year warranty, a bulletin-board service and an
optional Executive Service Program that guarantees 24-hour turnaround time
on notebook repairs.
