SPECTRUM FILES FOR FOREIGN PATENT COVERAGE OF ITS WIRELESS TECHNOLOGY

Manhasset, NY, April 26, 1994--Spectrum Information Technologies, Inc.
(NASDAQ, NMS:SPCL) announced that it has filed patent applications seeking
protection for Spectrum's Direct Connect technology in over 30 foreign
countries throughout Europe, Asia and Latin America.

The applications correspond to its previously issued U.S. Patent No.
5,249,218 that allows portable computers, fax machines, Personal Digital
Assistants, and other digital computing devices to wirelessly communicate
through a variety of different brands of analog and digital cellular
phones. Spectrum's technology does this by means of a simple connecting
cable which requires no additional circuitry as part of the cable.

Spectrum has also recently filed foreign patent applications that seek
foreign patent rights throughout Europe, Asia and Latin America covering
Voice/Data discrimination technology. Voice/Data discrimination technology
permits cellular service providers to differentiate between voice and data
transmissions. Appropriate action, such as differential billing, can then
be taken based on the results of the Voice/Data determination.

Spectrum Information Technologies, Inc., a pioneer in cellular data
communications, developed the first commercially successful cellular modem
and holds a portfolio of basic patents in the field of cellular modem
technology.

Spectrum currently licenses its patented technology to market leaders in
the rapidly expanding cellular data market, including Apex Data, AT&T,
Command Communications, Data Race, Megahertz, Microcom, PowerTek
Industries, Rockwell International, Telular Canada and U.S. Robotics.
