SUNSOFT DELIVERS ENHANCED INTERACTIVE UNIX SYSTEM

New Release Wins Big International Site Sale

NEW YORK, New York -- June 28, 1994/AT PC EXPO -- SunSoft Inc. today
announced it has delivered an update for users of the INTERACTIVE UNIX
System V/386 Release 3.2 operating system by introducing INTERACTIVE UNIX
System Version 4.1. This latest release of SunSoft's character-based UNIX
operating system for V/386 platforms offers support for new PC-based
hardware peripherals such as PCMCIA ethernet cards, which support
laptop-to-network connectivity. Version 4.1 also offers a range of new
functionality, including reduced disk space requirements, increased
NetWare connectivity, internet utilities and improved online
documentation. Now, users, network managers and systems integrators will
benefit from reduced costs, more efficient use of resources and increased
system flexibility.

"This latest version of INTERACTIVE UNIX 4.1 represents an ongoing,
measured program of annual releases by SunSoft to provide the most
up-to-date INTERACTIVE products," said Michael Sears, general manager of
the INTERACTIVE UNIX Group at SunSoft. "This version enhances the already
solid foundation of INTERACTIVE UNIX System products and maintains the
high-performance, quality solutions that businesses depend on."

Version 4.1 Wins Big Pacific Rim Contract

SunSoft also announced it signed a 300-seat contract for INTERACTIVE UNIX
System 4.1 with Singapore-based ABACUS Distributed Systems Pte. Ltd.
(through CSA Automated Systems Pte. Ltd.) to support ABACUS's latest line
of travel agency automation products. In addition, ABACUS indicated it
plans to add 700 more seats to its Asian base of INTERACTIVE UNIX System
4.1 users over the next few years. ABACUS chose 4.1 because of SunSoft's
dedication to standards, its continuous investment in INTERACTIVE UNIX
System technology and its commitment to the Asia Pacific region.

VERSION 4.1 PRODUCT FEATURES

* Expanded Hardware Support

SunSoft continues to make INTERACTIVE UNIX System 4.1 compatible with
advances in hardware technology by offering support for key new hardware
products, including PCMCIA style ethernet cards, which provide the ability
to easily plug laptops into an networks and offer greater mobility to
technical staff; machines with a PCI (Peripheral Component Interface) bus;
and additional drivers for several PCI-based disk controllers. The PCI bus
is a new local bus architecture developed by Intel Corp. that addresses
the limited I/O bandwidth and configuration capabilities of current PC
architecture.

* Smaller Operating System Footprint

"Smart Subsets" allow users to load less of the operating system. For
example, the complete INTERACTIVE UNIX System can now be loaded into less
then 20 MB of hard disk. This is significant because of the premium users
place on disk space availability.

* IPX/SPX Support

An IPX/SPX (NetWare) compatible protocol stack allows developers to write a
UNIX application, using the TLI (Transport Level Interface, a
network-to-application programming interface), so that it can be accessed
by NetWare clients. This feature cuts costs by eliminating the need for
expensive gateways between NetWare (IPX/SPX protocol) and UNIX (TCP/IP
protocol)
networks.

* Internet Utilities

A number of public domain Internet utilities have been included in this
release. Although freely available on the Internet in source form, these
programs have been ported and tested on the
INTERACTIVE UNIX System. This allows SunSoft customers without programing
skills to take advantage of these useful programs.

* On-Line Documentation

All manual pages are on-line and now available in troff source form in
addition to preformatted. With the inclusion for nroff and troff to
Version 4.1, users can now easily format and print manual pages.

Pricing and Availability

The INTERACTIVE UNIX System 4.1 is available immediately, starting at $495.
Current INTERACTIVE UNIX System 3.0, 3.0.1, 2.2, and 2.0 users can upgrade
to Version 4.1 for $99. After July 31st, an optimizing C compiler will be
available with Version 4.1 as a separately sold product for $395.
