TOSHIBA INTRODUCES THE NOTEWORTHY PORTABLE DIGITAL VIDEO CARD FOR MOBILE
PROFESSIONALS

NEW YORK -- June 28, 1994 -- Booth #2660 -- The Computer Systems Division
of Toshiba America Information Systems, Inc., (TAIS) today announced a new
digital video PCMCIA Type II card. Developed by Nogatech, Inc., a DSP
Group Company (Santa Clara, Calif.), the Noteworthy Portable Digital Video
card can transform an active matrix color notebook into a powerful
multimedia platform, capable of recording and displaying real time
full-motion video.

"By adding a new level of functionality to portable computing, Toshiba
allows mobile professionals to cost-effectively develop their own
multimedia applications," said Steve Lair, vice president of marketing for
Toshiba' s Computer Systems Division. The card provides a live video image
on the notebook screen in 256 colors, assisting industry-specific
applications, including real estate and insurance, dependent upon visual
images. In addition, full-screen and multi-task television functionality
is provided when connected to the portable TV tuner module, thus
transforming the color notebook computer into a consumer entertainment
device.

The new PCMCIA Type II card is a real time, video display/capture board
that displays NTSC video signals in 320 x 240 multi-task mode at 27 to 30
frames per second (fps) and PAL video signals in 384 x 288 multi-task mode
at 22 to 25 fps. This display size allows for multi-tasking between
digital video and other Windows-based programs. The device can capture
full-motion video at 320 x 240 in .AVI format and still images may be
captured in 8-bit resolution at 320 x 240 or 16-bit resolution at 640 x
480. This device provides the capability of audio volume control and
muting but cannot capture sound.

"We are very excited about this strategic relationship with Toshiba," said
Michael Campbell, vice president of sales, North America, for Nogatech,
Inc. "The Noteworthy Portable Digital Video card is just the first of many
solutions that Nogatech and Toshiba will provide to the multimedia
consumer."

Expected to ship in early September, the Toshiba Noteworthy Portable
Digital Video card carries a suggested retail price of $499. An optional
external TV tuner or video camera module is also available. The product
will be available through Toshiba authorized dealers and Toshiba
accessories at 800-959-4100.
