Zenith Data Systems announces 90MHz Pentium processor Z-STATION EX
network-ready desktops at June PC Expo

PCI local bus subsystems maximize speed

NEW YORK CITY -- June 28, 1994 -- Zenith Data Systems today announced the
addition of two 90MHz Pentium processor systems to the popular Z-STATION
line of desktop computers that feature built-in LAN connectivity. To peak
the performance potential of the new Pentium processor-based Z-STATION EX
models, ZDS has incorporated PCI local bus subsystems to provide a
high-speed path for data exchange. Both models also include a Type 5 ZIF
socket to support future Pentium OverDrive processors.

"Maximized power, expandability and built-in networkability will make the
Z-STATION EX a top contender in the Pentium processor market," commented
Cliff Jenks, ZDS executive vice president of sales and marketing. "Zenith
Data Systems is making a major leap into future performance capability
with the new Z-STATION EX configurations."

Based on the 90MHz Pentium microprocessor from Intel Corp., a Z-STATION EX
with 8MB of memory, a 420MB IDE hard disk drive, and Cirrus 5434 SVGA 1280
x 1024 integrated video chips with 2MB DRAM displaying 256 colors at 75Hz
refresh is competitively priced at $3,129.

A high-end configuration is $3,799 and comes with an IDE double-speed
CD-ROM drive, 16MB of memory, a 540MB IDE hard disk drive, and ATI MACH 64
SVGA 1280 x 1024 integrated video chips with 2MB VRAM displaying 256
colors at 75Hz refresh. (Prices quoted are Z-Direct prices. Reseller
prices may vary.)

Both Z-STATION EX configurations feature PCI local bus video, 256K L2 cache
writeback design, FLASH EPROM BIOS, Type S ZIF socket, a 3.5-inch 1.44MB
floppy disk drive and BIOS that supports 2.88MB floppy disk drive, and IDE
hard disk drive options up to 1GB.

Z-STATION EX workstations will be available in July 1994 through authorized
resellers.

"The lightening speed and extraordinary range of colors these systems
process almost has to be seen to be believed," said David O'Connor,
executive vice president of ZDS' worldwide product group. "The high-end
Z-STATION EX is a dream machine for 3-D CAD, desktop publishing and other
graphics-heavy applications, as well as the major database and spreadsheet
crunching done in professions like finance and engineering. And it's in
those organizations that ZDS' built-in expandability and connectivity are
so crucial."

Built-in Expandability and Connectivity

The Z-STATION EX Pentium processor-based workstations offer optimal
expandability with three 16-bit ISA slots, one PCI and one ISA/PCI combo
slot, plus two 5.25-inch external drive bays, one 3.5-inch external and
one 3.5-inch internal drive bay. A high-speed communications LAN interface
comes fully integrated for workgroup applications with built-in Ethernet
10Base-T, 10Base-2 and AUI connectors, and preinstalled client shells from
network industry leaders Novell, Banyan and Microsoft.

"The Z-STATION EX is an ideal out-of-the-box networking solution for
power-hungry applications that require increased speed and enhanced
processing capabilities," said O'Connor. "ZDS' preinstalled network
hardware and software save corporations countless hours and hassle. The
Z-STATION EX combination of Pentium processing capability and convenient
connectivity add up to real gains in productivity."

Options Offer More Expandability, Connectivity and Convenience

Optional add-in cards for the PCI slots are plug-and-play -- automatically
configured by the system without manual user intervention. An optional
PCMCIA adapter card enables sharing of PCMCIA cards between desktops and
notebook PCs. To complete the network capability and flexibility of the
Z-STATION EX, an ISA Token Ring adapter is also available.
