Ideally suited for SOHO and corporate markets with data, fax and voice
functionality all at less than $200 retail

Atlanta, Georgia -- June 27, 1994 -- Zoom Telephonics, Inc. (NASDAQ: ZOOM)
and SofNet, Inc. today announced Zoom's new Zoom/Voice FaxModem VFP 14.4V
with SofNet's FaxWorks Voice software for DOS and Windows users. The new
VFP 14.4V also includes Business Audio capability for storage and replay
of Windows .WAV files using any .WAV file compatible software. The product
is immediately available through Zoom's North American distribution
network and has a retail price of $199.

The ZoomNoice FaxModem VFP 14.4V is an internal half-card for PC compatible
computers that provides voice mail, 14,400 bps send and receive fax, and a
fully Hayes-compatible 14,400 bps data modem with hardware-based V.42bis,
MNP 2 - 5 and MNP 10. For faxing, the modem implements Class 1, Class 2
EIA/TIA 578 standards. The product provides PC users with intelligent
integration of their telephone-based communications -- all on a single
phoneline.

Additional hardware features include:

* Record and playback voice files using the telephone line or a local
telephone, via ADPCM (compressed) or linear (uncompressed) voice encoding
and programmable 2,3,4, 8 or 16 bit record/playback and 7200 or 11,025
samples per second. Voice storage rates can be as low as 1.8K bytes per
second.

* Call progress tone detection plus DTMF decoding - even during playback.

* Central Telephone Office current detect for instant recognition of remote
telephone hang-ups.

* Local phone current detect to monitor off-hook and on-hook status of
local phone.

* Caller identification hardware for incoming number identification
(requires caller id service from local telephone company).

* Built-in speaker with software-controlled volume, plus a jack for
optional external speakers.

FaxWorks Voice provides the ZoomNoice FaxModem VFP 14.4V with powerful
answering machine functionality, fax-on-demand and voice-prompted remote
access to the computer system. Over 1,000 password-protected mailboxes can
be set up for managing fax and voice messages. Callers are greeted with
professionally or personally recorded prompts and are asked to either
leave voice mail messages, retrieve public and private fax-on-demand
documents or retrieve voice messages.

The ZoomNoice FaxModem VFP 14.4V has SharePort, a unique technology that
allows users to seamlessly share their PC's communications port with any
terminal application, on-line service, remote access package, or other
communications software. Because there is no conflict between FaxWorks
Voice and other communications applications, users will never see a "comm
port busy" message.

Travelers will enjoy FaxWorks Voice's versatility. By calling into the
system remotely, users can change their greetings or have their faxes
forwarded to any location. In addition, the product provides fax and pager
notification options that can be remotely configured by users through
telephone keypads.

For faxing, FaxWorks Voice provides DOS and Windows users with
award-winning comprehensive functionality with features such as fax
sending/receiving, viewing, printing and editing. Faxes can be easily
manipulated through the products' thumbnail viewing and mark-up and
annotation tools. In addition, users will enjoy FaxWorks Voice's intuitive
interface, instant fax page rotation and gray scale image enhancement.
