Accent Delivers Multilingual Technology To The Internet

Net Users Can Now Create, Publish and Read In More Than 35 Languages

Seamless Integration With World Wide Web Browsers

New York NY--June 20, 1995--PC Expo Booth 666 (Level 1 - Internet
Pavilion)-Multilingual software pioneer Accent Software International
today announced a suite of applications which brings a new multilingual
dimension to cyberspace. World Wide Web pages and e-mail can now be
accessed, authored, published and distributed in over 35 languages under
any language version of Windows.

Due to its largely American origin, most Internet services, software and
content are in English. Attempts to address multilingual needs use partial
solutions which have traditionally characterized the software industry:
create a solution in English and retrofit other languages. However, this
restricts accessibility to specific language versions of Windows, requires
the purchase of language-specific software and operating systems, and
precludes the use of multiple languages in a single document.

Including four multilingual applications--a browser add-on, an e-mail
add-on, an email reader, and HTML authoring capability--the Accent suite
provides a comprehensive solution to working with multilingual Internet
content. "The whole infrastructure of the Net is built primarily for
English only," said Robert Rosenschein, president and co-founder. "We will
give Internet users choices they have never had before, to communicate in
whatever language they wish."

Accent Multilingual Browser Add-on

The Accent multilingual browser add-on will allow viewing of World Wide Web
content in over 35 languages. By providing additional links, creators of
Web sites can program options into their pages allowing users to view
sites in the language of their choosing. Accent's browser will
automatically activate when a user clicks on a link to a Web page in a
different language. Accent's browser is fully compatible with leading
browsers from companies such as Netscape, Spry, Spyglass, and Netcom.

Accent Multilingual Mail Add-on

The Accent multilingual mail add-on will allow users to create, send, and
receive electronic mail in multiple languages, under any language version
of Windows. For example, a Russian speaker living in New York could create
a Russian document even in the English version of Windows and send it
electronically to an associate in Germany using German Windows. Currently,
such users are restricted to communicating in English only. The Accent
Mail add-on will further allow users to send a single electronic message
containing multiple languages - including multiple alphabets. For example,
a user could send a message with Greek, Arabic, and Spanish text in the
same document, even though the three languages have three different
alphabets, and despite the fact that Arabic is written right-to-left and
Greek and Spanish left-to-right.

Accent multilingual mail add-on will work in tandem with existing e-mail
software packages, such as cc:Mail, MS Mail, and GroupWise through MAPI
(Mail Application Programming Interface). The user will be able to create
a document in a foreign language with Accent's word processor and send the
document seamlessly from a command in the file menu.

Accent E-Mail Reader

To give immediate access to multilingual e-mail, whether or not recipients
have Accent mail, a free reader program will be made available for
downloading from leading on-line service providers as well as Accent's
home page. The e-mail reader will allow users without Accent word
processors to read messages in other languages and character sets as text
files.

Accent HT (ML)^2 Authoring Capability

The Accent HT(ML)^2-- HyperText MultiLingual Markup Language technology
will enable the creation of Web pages in non-Latin and bidirectional
alphabets, including the ability to mix multiple alphabets in the same
document. Integrated into Accent's line of international word processors,
the "multilingually" enhanced version of HTML will offer a user-friendly
solution to producing Web pages. Accent offers the ability to author World
Wide Web content in over 35 languages, independent of the location or
localization of the Windows operating system. Therefore, an international
company in the United Stated can create marketing material in Russian,
Arabic or Turkish without obtaining additional software or keyboard(s).

A Multicultural And Multilingual Internet

"While the Internet is being hailed as a global communications medium,
there is still a fundamental element missing," added Rosenschein. "And
that is the ability to send and receive information in any language, or
even multiple alphabets, anywhere in the world. Accent is delivering its
multilingual technology in a new dimension whose market is only limited to
the growth of and adaptation to the Internet."

English may be a common language, but millions of users and potential users
of the Internet worldwide, think and communicate in other languages. "For
the same reason there are books, magazines and TV programs in dozens of
languages, the Internet must be made more multicultural and multilingual,"
concluded Rosenschein.

Availability and Pricing

The suite will be released in Fall 1995. Pricing will be announced at that
time.
