AIWA COMPUTER SYSTEMS DIVISION OPENS TO MEET PROJECTED FUTURE GROWTH

Company opens sales and marketing operations in Mahwah, New Jersey;
appoints Nario Nagano to serve as Vice President of Sales and Marketing;

Company announces plans to deliver new AIWA computer products in the Fall.

NEW YORK, NEW YORK, June 20, 1995 -- Coincident with the nationwide
roll-out of its AIWA AutoLoader Series at the PC Expo trade show in New
York, AIWA AMERICA, INC. today formally announced the opening of its
Computer Systems Division in Mahwah, New Jersey. At the same time, AIWA
AMERICA INC. President and Chief Executive Officer Yukio Yamamoto
announced the appointment of Nario Nagano to serve as the division's Vice
President of Sales and Marketing.

Nario Nagano comes to AIWA AMERICA, INC. from AIWA CO. LTD. in Japan where
he held a number of senior sales and marketing management positions within
the Data Products Group of the company. Most recently, he served as
General Manager of Worldwide Market Development for the AIWA AutoLoader
Series and overall Product Planning. Before this he was Deputy General
Manager of Overseas Sales & Marketing. Nagano joined AIWA in 1976, after
graduating from Kagoshima University in Japan with a degree in
Engineering.

"Mr. Nagano is charged with the responsibility of leveraging AIWA's strong
R&D background in tape transport and data storage technology into a
successful line of AIWA computer products that will be sold here in North
America," AIWA AMERICA, INC. President and Chief Executive Officer Yukio
Yamamoto said today. "He is a seasoned international product development,
production, sales, and marketing executive who will work closely with our
computer products dealers, distributors, and sales representatives in
creating dynamic product and marketing programs."

AIWA's Commitment To The Computer Industry Is Evolving:

The formal opening of the AIWA Computer Systems Division today stems
directly from AIWA CO. LTD.'s purchase of CORE International two years
ago. In acquiring CORE, a pioneer in the development of hardware array
subsystems and RAID storage systems for the network market, the
$2.8-billion Tokyo, Japan based AIWA announced plans to develop and
introduce a broad range of sophisticated AIWA computer network products to
the North American computer marketplace. As part of this effort, CORE will
continue to develop disk-based computer storage systems that will be sold
under the AIWA/CORE brand name.

The AIWA Computer Systems Division is also working closely with AIWA
Digital Technology Inc., which AIWA opened in July 1994 in Santa Ana,
California, to develop tape based computer products. "The combined
resources of the AIWA sales and marketing group, the CORE product
development team, and the AIWA Digital Technology team will assure our
dealers of a continued stream of high quality, high value added computer
storage products," Nagano said today.

Several AIWA Computer Products To Debut In The Fall:

At the PC Expo trade show opening today in New York, AIWA is demonstrating
its new AutoLoader Series -- two revolutionary new data storage products
that completely automate all nightly tape backup operations and are
compatible for use with all major formats of client servers. The company
is now delivering its AutoLoader Series to customers nationwide, and plans
to follow up these deliveries with the introduction of several new
innovative RAID and tape storage products in the Fall.

The AIWA Computer Systems Division is exhibiting its AIWA AutoLoader Series
and other computer products at PC Expo Booth #3060 in the Jacob Javits
Convention Center.

Headquartered in Mahwah, New Jersey, AIWA AMERICA, INC. is one of the
world's leading manufacturers and marketers of audio, video, car stereo,
and multimedia products. The company is a wholly owned subsidiary of AIWA
CO. LTD, based in Tokyo, Japan, a $2.8-billion manufacturer and marketer
of consumer and professional audio and video entertainment, computer, data
storage, and communications products.
