MediaWrangler Software to Debut with Chinon Digital Camera

PC Expo, NYC -- June 20, 1995 -- AltaVista will be showing MediaWrangler in
conjunction with the new Chinon Digital Camera debuting at PC Expo.
MediaWrangler will be featured as an add-on software solution for the
camera.

AltaVista & Chinon plan to provide to PC Expo attendees a free
"personalized digital postcard" featuring a personal digital image
provided by the Chinon Camera and the software, MediaWrangler. This
interactive postcard contains an image, graphics, sound and text.. The
user can take it home, play it back on their home computers and even
e-mail the postcard to friends and associates.

"There is a lot of synergy between the Chinon Digital Camera and
MediaWrangler," said Jack Marshall, president of AltaVista. "Users can now
snap a number of pictures and create a multimedia presentation in minutes.
Chinon and AltaVista intend to support the TWAIN standard to ensure
compatibility between MediaWrangler and the Chinon Camera Software as well
as related third party packages. There are many vertical markets that can
take advantage of this package such as real estate agents, professional
photographers, corporate trainers, image content providers, and even
end-users who want to create vacation scrapbooks or family trees."

Using MediaWrangler

MediaWrangler uses an "old west" analogy to make its concepts easy to use
and understand -using terms such as "roundup" to identify a multimedia
presentation and "hitching post" when multimedia files are grouped
together. Using this intuitive terminology and MediaWrangler's drag and
drop interface, users can easily construct an interactive catalog in
minutes by dragging images, audio, video and text into hot-spots.

Support for a wide variety of image, audio and video formats enables users
to select, manipulate and move easily between catalog elements. Transition
effects, together with autoplayback and auto-loop capability further
enhances user flexibility -- as well as the finished catalog presentation.
A built in multimedia manager allows users to assign keywords to entire
presentations or individual files. For example, a real estate agent could
search for all of the pictures containing a swimming pool (individual
files) or all of the houses between $200,000 and $300,000 (entire
presentations).

Among the new features is the ability to play a MIDI file in the background
while playing a wave file. This gives the user the ability to record
narration for a presentation and still have background music. Also
included in this version is a screen scaling feature that enables
presentations to fit any monitor size.
