DesignCAD 3D for Windows 95 to Ship in September

(June 20, New York) -- American Small Business Computers has announced
DesignCAD 3D for Windows 95, to be released in September. DesignCAD 3D
provides 3-dimensional design, solid modeling, realistic rendering, and 3D
animation. DesignCAD 3D also supports features required for Windows 95
logo certification, such as long file names, OLE 2, drag and drop, and the
Windows 95 Mail interface.

DesignCAD 3D for Windows 95 has a list price of $495, the same as the
Windows 3.1 version. Current DesignCAD 3D users can upgrade to the Windows
95 release for $99.

In addition to Windows 95 support, DesignCAD 3D for Windows 95 includes new
features such as a programming interface for Visual Basic and Visual C++,
a 2-dimensional drafting mode, several new dimensioning commands, enhanced
editing features, and more realistic rendering.

DesignCAD 3D is used for professional engineering and architectural
applications, but with its low cost and ease of use, "casual" CAD users
find it invaluable. DesignCAD 3D is much less expensive than comparable 3D
CAD software. DesignCAD 3D is very easy to learn and use, and users have
access to free unlimited technical support.

With DesignCAD 3D, it is possible to create realistic 3-dimensional objects
and use them with other applications such as word processing, desktop
publishing, and multimedia. For example, a user can add a DesignCAD 3D
drawing to a Microsoft Word document by pasting it from the Windows
clipboard or by inserting it as an OLE 2 object.

DesignCAD 3D for Windows 95 provides powerful solid modeling features. 3D
modeling capabilities include solid Boolean operations that make it
possible to subtract or add two solid objects, interference checking,
volume and surface area calculations, and several surface construction
methods. 3D viewing angles and perspectives can be changed, and any number
of 3D views can be displayed on the screen simultaneously.

A 3-dimensional object can be represented in wire-frame mode, or "rendered"
(shaded) to give a realistic look to the object. DesignCAD 3D can render
or shade objects using smooth or quick shading. In addition, objects can
be viewed with "hidden line removal." Material characteristics such as
chrome or walnut can be assigned to individual objects, using the texture
and reflection properties to make the objects look real. Up to eight
independent light sources can be positioned to simulate true light
distribution for a drawing. With true 24-bit color support, unprecedented
results can be produced on an ordinary PC.

Keyframe animation is supported, which makes it possible to create
professional-quality animations. In a keyframe animation, a number of
keyframes or views are defined with the viewing angle, size, and position
specified at each keyframe. Then a number of slides are automatically
generated between keyframes, making a smooth animation from each keyframe
to the next.

DesignCAD 3D supports True-Type fonts in 3D text mode as wells as 2-D mode.
The 3D text mode allows text to be displayed on any plane at any angle in
3-dimensional space.

Current DesignCAD 3D users can upgrade to the Windows 95 version for $99.
