CHEYENNE SOFTWARE EXPANDS MULTI-PLATFORM BACKUP AND RESTORE CAPABILITIES
WITH SUPPORT FOR IBM POWER PC PLATFORM

RISC Architecture Support Provides High Performance, Reliable Enterprise
Data Management For the AIX and OS/2 Environments

ROSLYN HEIGHTS, NY (June 19, 1995) -- In further expanding its family of
multiplatform data management software, industry leader Cheyenne Software,
Inc. (AMEX:CYE) today announced a new line of IBM PowerPC storage
management solutions for the AIX v4.1.2 and OS/2 Warp Connect (PowerPC
Edition) operating systems. Designed to fully optimize the PowerPC RISC
architecture, Cheyenne's products will provide high reliability and
feature-rich functionality for networks, workgroups and stand-alone PCs to
benefit users of PowerPC-based systems, including the new IBM Personal
Computer Power Series and IBM ThinkPad Power Series.

"We are very pleased to be working so closely with IBM in customizing our
ARCserve data management technology for such a significant platform as the
IBM Power Series," said Tom Lumia, OS/2 and AIX development manager for
Cheyenne. "The development of PowerPC platform-specific solutions advances
Cheyenne one step further in fulfilling our vision of providing universal,
platform-independent backup and restore for today's enterprise."

Cheyenne is currently shipping Cheyenne ARCserve/Open for IBM AIX for the
PowerPC platform. ARCserve/Open employs state-of-the-art client/server
technology that can backup data at speeds of over 100MB per minute on a
single tape drive. Further performance gains are achieved via Cheyenne's
Parallel Streaming feature which increases throughput by backing up to,
and restoring from, several devices simultaneously.

Cheyenne will also ship its stand-alone and workgroup solution, Cheyenne
ARCsolo for OS/2 to provide reliable backup and restore for Power Series
users. The product includes a Disaster Recovery Module that allows users
to recover data quickly in the event of a hard disk failure. The entire
OS/2 Warp Connect (PowerPC Edition) operating system can be installed
directly from a bootable rescue diskette which not only re-installs the
operating system, but also re-partitions the physical drives, re-formats
the logical drives and restores all the data files intact, minimizing
down-time.

The enhanced performance capabilities of ARCsolo for OS/2 enables high
speed data search and restore. Its Quick File Access and File Tracking
System features reduce the time required to locate and restore a specific
file at precisely the time a user needs it most. The product's
object-oriented "drag-and-drop" interface, combined with its
multi-threaded device engine, further increases performance on the PowerPC
platform by allowing administrators or users to conduct simultaneous
backup and restore operations.

Workgroup administrators will greatly benefit from the ability to cascade
tapes automatically with Cheyenne's Autochanger Support. Compatible with
most autochangers in the industry, Cheyenne ARCsolo also supports a wide
array of industry leading 4mm, 8mm and QIC SCSI tape drives, to provide
maximum flexibility and choice in backup configurations.

Cheyenne will make ARCsolo for OS/2 for the PowerPC platform available in
concert with IBM's release of OS/2 Warp Connect (PowerPC Edition). Pricing
will be announced at that time. Additional Cheyenne products for the
PowerPC platform are currently in development and will be announced
throughout the balance of 1995.

IBM's Personal Computer Power and ThinkPad Power Series

The IBM Personal Computer Power Series and ThinkPad Power Series family
delivers superior performance to meet the increasing demands of
client/server environments. Based on an industry-standard platform, the
systems take advantage of the PowerPC microprocessor to provide an open
environment capable of running advanced applications on a variety of
32-bit operating systems, including OS/2 Warp Connect, AIX, Windows NT and
Solaris.
