CHINON TO SHIP FIRST AFFORDABLE 3D SYSTEM PROVIDING VIRTUAL REALITY
EXPERIENCE

PC-Based CyberShades to Ship at the End of Third Quarter Priced Below $200

June 20, 1995 -- (PC EXPO, NEW YORK) -- Chinon America, an established
leader in CD-ROM drive technology, today announced it will ship a
breakthrough immersive visual product in the third quarter, 1995.
CyberShades is an inexpensive PC peripheral resembling a pair of
sunglasses, which allows the PC user to experience high resolution stereo
3D imagery using standard VGA monitors. The company predicts a boom in 3D
gaming due to this technological advance, which enables high-quality
performance at a low price.

The product is designed to eliminate the visual discomfort that has plagued
users of many stereo-viewing systems. "With CyberShades, we've solved the
problems which have led to flicker of other LCD 3D glasses, and have
solved the problem of low resolution inherent in VR headsets by utilizing
the full resolution capabilities of the user's monitor," noted David Cole,
executive vice president of product development and support for Chinon
America's Information Equipment Division.

Installation of the CyberShades unit is simple. The device connects to the
parallel port on the user's PC, and a pass through is provided for
connection to other parallel peripherals. The viewer is then immersed in a
stereographic 3D world through a driver which supports the glasses.

"Drivers extend many of today's hottest 3D titles including Flight
Unlimited and Magic Carpet," Cole said. "Chinon is working aggressively
with developers to insure that future titles will contain integral
CyberShade support."

CyberShades works on any Windows-compatible IBM PC, 386SX or higher, with
at least 4MB RAM. The user will need a VGA color monitor and graphics
card. Some titles may require higher CPU specifications for optimum
performance.

Developers may contact Joe Santamaria at Chinon's corporate headquarters
regarding the easy-to-use Advanced Programming Interface (API) for
developing or adapting CD-ROM titles for 3D stereo graphics display, using
the CyberShades technology: Telephone (310) 533-0274 ext. 670.

Chinon is a world leader in the manufacturing of CD-ROM and floppy disk
drives. The company also manufactures multimedia hardware and software,
OEM printer components, electronic imaging and optical products.
CyberShades is the company's first venture into virtual reality and marks
a new era for Chinon, which is expanding into a full-service interactive
multimedia manufacturing and marketing company. Chinon America's
Information Equipment Division, which began operations in 1985, is a
subsidiary of Chinon Industries, Japan.

Chinon America will be exhibiting its full line of products at PC Expo,
June 20-22, 1995 in the Jacob K. Javits Convention Center, Booth #909. For
