CONNER ANNOUNCES HARDWARE RAID SUPPORT FOR WINDOWS NT SERVER

Conner high-performance RAID subsystems boost storage capacities and make
it easier to maintain availability and integrity of data across NT
environments

LAKE MARY, Fla., April 10, 1995 -- Conner Storage Systems, a division of
Conner Peripherals, Inc. (NYSE: CNR), today announced that its
hardware-based CR12-RAID and CR6-RAID subsystems fully support the
Microsoft Windows NT, version 3.5 operating system. The Conner RAID
hardware arrays boost Windows NT network performance through a PC board
which controls the subsystem and employs a dedicated array processor to
offload RAID algorithms from the Windows NT server.

Conner also announced new Conner Alert Manager software for Microsoft
Windows NT servers that provides systems administrators with RAID
subsystem monitoring, management and alert capabilities. The software tool
serves as a central resource for quickly identifying and responding to
RAID subsystem operation status changes, ensuring data availability and
integrity throughout a Windows NT enterprise network.

The storage capacity for the CR12-RAID and CR6-RAID product family ranges
from 4 gigabytes (GB) to 24 GB. Both products are available for EISA
configurations using an EISA bus-based RAID controller or PCI
configurations using Intel's PCI local bus-based architecture. The Conner
CR12-RAID and CR6-RAID subsystems are available now through resellers and
distributors with suggested list prices ranging from $8,375 to $29,995.

RAID in Windows NT: A Significant Market Opportunity

Providing RAID devices for the Window's NT server environments represents a
significant market opportunity. According to International Data
Corporation, Microsoft's NT Server market will gain the most share in the
file server market through 1998, establishing itself as the clear cut
number two supplier of NOS licenses. Forrester Research estimates
Microsoft's Windows NT server shipments to have been 100,000 in 1994 with
the number growing to approximately 300,000 by the end of 1998.

"Conner Storage Systems provides customers with a wide range of RAID
solutions to support mission critical applications residing on Windows NT
servers," said Joel Reich, director of marketing, Conner Storage Systems.
"By supporting Microsoft Windows NT servers, Conner hardware RAID systems
can be used to boost overall network performance in one of the fastest
growing PC LAN environments."

New Software Capabilities for NT

The Conner Alert Manager software provides systems administrators with new
RAID management capabilities that were previously unavailable for the
Microsoft NT server operating system. The Alert Manager software includes
capabilities to monitor and manage RAID array drives, power supplies and
fans; allowing network administrators to take immediate action in the
event of a failed power supply or disk drive and maintain uninterrupted
server access. Event information can be logged for future reference and
record keeping.

Designed to deliver maximum performance, availability, data security,
scalability and flexibility to PC LAN storage, Conner's scalable RAID
system offers hardware redundancy for superior fault tolerance and
supports RAID levels 0, 1 and 5 configurations. The CR12-RAID and CR6-RAID
subsystems use Conner's 3.5-inch, one-inch high SCSI 1GB or 2GB hard disk
drives which plug directly into the backplane of the RAID system and are
compatible with a variety of RAID controllers.

Other fault tolerant features for the CR12-RAID and CR6-RAID subsystems
include a configurable hot on-line spare drive, redundant power supplies
and redundant cooling fans.

LEDs signal the status of the hard disk drives, power supplies and fans. An
audible alarm and broadcast message signal alert the administrator in the
event of a failure of any of these components. The Conner CR12-RAID
includes an LCD for status and temperature monitoring information.

The Conner RAID products transfer data over a FAST SCSI-2 interface at a
rate of 10 MB/second and have an average seek time of 9 milliseconds. With
an average Mean Time Between Data Loss rating in excess of five million
hours, the Conner CR12-RAID and CR6-RAID subsystems are among the most
reliable systems in their class.

The Conner CR12-RAID and CR6-RAID subsystems have been fully tested and are
compatible with Windows NT Server v3.5. To receive certification from
Microsoft, products undergo a battery of tests to ensure compatibility.
Microsoft Windows NT is a 32-bit operating system that provides advanced
features such as preemptive multi-tasking, security, integrated
networking, a high performance I/O system and support for symmetric
multi-processing systems. Conner's RAID product family has also been
certified by Novell for use with NetWare 3.x or 4.x.

Continuing Conner Storage System's tradition of service and support, the
Conner RAID product family is backed by trained customer support
specialists and rapid turnaround on product repairs under warranty. All
Conner RAID systems offer a five-year warranty.

Based in Lake Mary, Fla., Conner Storage Systems offers a complete line of
hardware and software RAID products compatible with a variety of operating
systems. The group sells products through a worldwide network of dealers,
distributors and value-added resellers.

Founded in 1986, Conner sells, designs and builds a comprehensive line of
information storage solutions, including disk drives, tape drives, storage
management software and storage systems, for a wide range of computer
applications. Conner had 1994 sales of $2.4 billion.
