"Live" 3-D VR Character Interacts with Compaq Booth Crowd (#3734)

June 20, 1995 -- [Houston] -- CyberSim and Compaq Computer Corporation
(NYSE: CPQ) today unveiled "Zoom" at PC Expo in New York's Jacob Javits
Convention Center. Zoom is a computer-generated virtual reality (VR) race
car driver who's controlled in real-time by a live actor to become an
interactive participant from the Compaq booth (#3734). PC Expo attendees
interact with Zoom's life-size image displayed on an 8-foot high video
wall outfitted with speakers and a microphone. The actor-driven Zoom will
be calling out to attendees as they walk by the Compaq booth.

Zoom's movements are driven by straps, with embedded electromagnetic
sensors, attached to a live actor. When the actor moves, Zoom moves. The
straps, and Zoom, are ultimately controlled by custom VR software written
by CyberSim running on a Compaq Proliant 1500 server.

Compaq CEO Eckhard Pfeiffer is also expected to interact with Zoom during
his June 20th keynote speech at PC Expo by using videoconference
technology to link Pfeiffer in the speech hall with Zoom in the booth.

"This type of virtual 3-D character has been done before for the movie
industry and the Cartoon Network on computers and equipment worth half a
million dollars," said Joe Martin, CyberSim president and CEO. "This is a
first running on $20,000 worth of PC-based hardware."

Zoom was created for Compaq's trade show use throughout the second half of
1995 and first half of 1996 to attract show attendees to their touring
booth as well as demonstrate the power of the Compaq server. Zoom ties
into the Compaq booth theme of 'Life in the Fast Lane' both in terms of
his speedy name and the fact that he's a race car driver.

CyberSim created a three-dimensional (3-D) computer aided design (CAD)
model of Zoom, based on a two-dimensional (2-D) sketch provided by Compaq,
using 3D Studio software and the RendorMorphics application programming
interface (API) from Microsoft with programming by CyberSim and Jason
Asbahr of Reactive Systems. The graphics card in the Compaq server that
produces the output is from Houston-based OmniComp called the 3Demon.

CyberSim is an applied computer technology corporation specializing in
virtual reality, real-time graphics and the Internet. The four-year-old
Houston-based company was incorporated in June 1993 by Joe R. Martin,
president and chief executive officer. CyberSim Systems, Inc. is a pioneer
