Deltec Expands Micro-UPS Line

New Domestic and International models protect Power PCs and Macs starting
at $119

San Diego Calif. -- April 13 1995 -- Responding to the request of resellers
and end-users to expand its micro-UPS line, Deltec today announced the
addition of domestic and international UPS models to its PowerRite Plus
family. The PowerRite Plus family marks Deltec's commitment that
protecting PCs should be reliable, affordable and feature-rich.

The revamp of the Plus family includes the addition of models in lower and
higher power levels to accommodate a wider range of stand-alone PCs,
network hubs, Pentiums, Power PCs, and PC and Mac workstations. The new
PowerRite Plus, which incorporates Deltec's patent-pending Advanced
Battery Management (ABM) for longer battery life and faster recharge time,
consists of 10 domestic and international models. The models start at
220VA (ideally suited for 286's, Mac SEs and PC nodes) and go up to 650VA
to protect critical workstations and heavily configured PCs or Macs.
Pricing for the PowerRite Plus starts at a low $119 and is backed by a
5-year Triple Power Protection Warranty.

"Today, users recognize the need to protect their computer systems against
the damaging affects of power disruptions. And, with the functionality of
UPSs increasing and prices decreasing, users feel they cannot afford to be
without reliable power protection. For example in the SOHO market, where
the low end of our Plus line is ideal, we're seeing more and more sales,"
commented vice president of marketing, Susan Connell.

The PowerRite Plus is the first UPS line in its power class to incorporate
features normally found in higher power capacity models.

The PowerRite Plus features Deltec's ABM technology that prolongs the life
of the UPS battery and speeds recharge time. Connell went on to say, "The
battery is the weakest link in any UPS. With our Advanced Battery
Management, users are assured of increased battery reliability as well as
increased system uptime." The PowerRite Plus includes audible alarms and
visual indicators for self-tests, blackouts, low battery and battery
service, as well as wiring faults. In the event of a battery service
alarm, the user is given up to 60-days advance warning that the battery
needs service. Once the battery needs replacing, the user simply calls
Deltec's toll-free number (800854-2658) and Deltec immediately sends a new
unit to the customer. The user then swaps the old UPS for the new one and
sends the old UPS back to Deltec at his/her convenience. By replacing the
entire UPS, Deltec has eliminated the inconvenience and environmental
hazards of handling batteries.

For easy monitoring and management of UPS power, the 420, 500 and 650VA
models interface with Deltec's FailSafe III and LanSafe III power
management software. During an unattended power failure, LanSafe m wi
shutdown all workstations, bridges, routers and file servers in a
user-defined sequential order. For stand alone PCs or Macs, FailSafe III
will automatically conduct a safe shutdown of the system.

An additional feature of the PowerRite Plus is its wiring fault indicator.
The indicator alerts users if either the ground wire connection does not
exist or the line and neutral wires are reversed in the receptacle. The
UPS also sports back-panel DIP switches that are user-defined for low and
high line voltage transfer to battery, AC input failure audio alarm
enable/disable, and battery back-up time after low battery alarm.

Backup times range from 5 to 45 minutes depending on application and UPS
model. In a typical 286 or 386-based system configuration, the PowerRite
Plus will keep the PC up and running for 7 to 10 minutes during a power
outage. (According to Bell Labs, 95% of all power outages are less than 1
minute.)

The PowerRite Plus 60Hz (domestic) and 50Hz/60Hz (international) models are
available in 220, 300, 420, 500 and 650VA power ratings. The PowerRite
Plus family meets stringent worldwide safety, performance and
environmental standards of UL, FCC (Class A and B), VDE, IEEE and CSA.

Deltec supports the PowerRite Plus with an exclusive five-year Triple Power
Protection Warranty which includes a five-year pro-rated warranty, a
$25,000 Computer/Load Protection Guarantee, as well as a 60-day money back
guarantee.
