DURACOM INTRODUCES NEW MOTHERBOARD AT PC EXPO

586-EVD design supports Intel's new 133 MHz Pentium processor

NEW YORK (PC EXPO - June 20, 1995) -- DURACOM Computer Systems will
introduce its new 586-EVD motherboard with improved processing speed at PC
EXPO on June 20-22 in New York. The 586-EVD platform is available in
DURACOM's high-performance MiniPro and DeskSaver computer systems and
supports not only 75, 90 and 100 MHz, but also the 120 and new 133 MHz
model Intel Pentium processors.

"The 586-EVD provides high performance while delivering exceptional value,"
said Tom Dodson, president, DURACOM Computer Systems. "Its flexibility and
advanced features allow for expansion to meet complex multimedia and
communication needs."

The new motherboard's flexible design supports the full line of Pentium
processors and is configured with the new Intel Triton 82437FX chip set.
It uses the PCI Local Bus architecture to further increase system
performance and on-board Fast IDE to increase the data transfer rate. The
586-EVD also features CELP (Card Edge Low Profile) sockets for flexible
cache options which allows for higher performance at a lower price. The
CELP cache module supports up to 512KB of asynchronous, pipelined burst or
synchronous burst cache modules.

Another feature that sets the 586-EVD apart from other motherboards is its
EDO (Extended Data Out) memory and built-in audio subsystem. Using Hyper
Page Mode EDO DRAM (Dynamic Random Access Memory), the 586-EVD provides
the same performance in a cacheless system as seen in a system with
standard Fast Page memory and cache. Even better system performance is
witnessed when EDO memory and cache are used together. The motherboard's
advanced memory improves system performance and allows for multimedia and
multi-tasking applications. The addition of EDO memory also improves disk
access capability.

Other advanced features of the 586-EVD include a Super I/O (Input/Output)
Interface with two high-speed 16550 compatible serial ports. The on-board
Super I/O interface with Fast IDE supports up to four hard disk drives on
the PCI bus and two floppy drives up to 2.88MB. In addition, the 586-EVD
comes standard with 8MB of system memory and can be expanded to 128MB for
maximum application performance.

The 586-EVD ensures ease-of-use and is already configured for Windows 95
plug-and-play. It uses the latest software and BIOS capabilities. In
addition, it has 100MB/second PCI data streaming which provides extra
bandwidth for multi-tasking. Three ISA and two PCI slots also are present
for flexibility and expansion. The 586-EVD also features an on-board
Soundblaster enhanced sound support system, support for infrared devices
and built-in power management.

Established in 1989, DURACOM Computer Systems sells custom configured
computer systems through its nationwide network of value added resellers
(VARs) and dealers. DURACOM employs more than 80 people in its corporate
headquarters in Irving, Texas, and its manufacturing facility in Fremont,
Calif.
