WARRANTIES DOUBLED ON EXABYTE TAPE LIBRARIES

Popular EXB-210, EXB-440 and EXB-480 Covered by Warranty Extension

BOULDER, Colo., June 8, 1995--Already the most reliable products in their
class, Exabyte tape libraries now offer an even higher level of
trouble-free use, plus a lower cost of ownership. Today the company
announced that it has doubled to two years the warranties for its EXB-210,
EXB-440 and EXB-480 8mm Tape Libraries and its EXB-018 4mm Tape Library.
The warranty extension applies to all EXB-440, EXB-480 and EXB-018
products, and to EXB-210 products purchased on or after Jan. 1, 1995.

Included in the Exabyte library warranty are parts and return-to-factory
labor. For tape libraries purchased before Jan. 1, 1995, one-year extended
warranties may be purchased from Exabyte. These one-year extensions are
available for a special low price of $100 through Aug. 31, 1995.

"At 750,000 mean-cycles-between-failure--or an average of eight years of
trouble-free use--the EXB-210, EXB-440, EXB-480 and EXB-018 are the most
reliable 8mm and 4mm tape libraries the market offers," said Jeff Seltzer,
Exabyte' s storage automation business line manager. "Doubling their
warranty is a reflection of the high level of confidence Exabyte has in
these products."

Exabyte libraries combine tape drives, data cartridges and intelligent
robotics in space-saving enclosures. Depending on the model and the
configuration of drives and data cartridges, Exabyte libraries provide
data storage capacities ranging from 70 gigabytes to up to 1.1 terabytes.
Multiple drives enable parallel processing, fault tolerance and improved
performance, and a modular design ensures quick and easy product
servicing. Utilizing software available from the world's leading software
vendors, Exabyte libraries completely automate data storage management.

"For an average-sized network, an episode of downtime can cost an
organization between $25,000 and $70,000, primarily in human productivity
time," Seltzer said. "The high reliability of our libraries means they
probably won't break down. Our extended two-year warranty means that if
they do, end users are covered for twice as long. And, if repair or
servicing are required, the modular design of the libraries results in a
quick service call."

According to industry analysis provided by Dataquest, Exabyte held an
approximate 90-percent share of the 8mm library market in 1994, based on
units shipped. Exabyte's worldwide installed base of libraries is over
20,000.

Headquartered in Boulder, Colo., Exabyte Corp. designs, manufactures and
markets a full range of tape storage products: 8mm, 4mm and quarter-inch
minicartridge tape drives, tape libraries and recording media. Exabyte is
the world's largest independent manufacturer focused solely on tape
storage products, which it ships to original equipment manufacturers,
value-added resellers and distributors.
