ORACLE AND INTEL TEAM; FIRST TO DELIVER INTERACTIVE VIDEO TO PCs

Desktop Conferencing and Media Server Software Will Enable New Types of
Interactive Applications for PC Users Over Affordable ISDN Phone Lines

MILLBRAE. Calif., June 13, 1995--Oracle Corp. and Intel Corporation today
announced they will combine technologies for delivering real-time video
and interactive services to corporate and home computer users over
affordable ISDN (integrated services digital network) phone lines. At a
press conference, Oracle CEO, Larry Ellison, and Intel CEO, Andy Grove,
demonstrated several interactive applications made possible by linking
Intel's ProShare video-conferencing and Oracle Media Server software. The
demonstration included ground-breaking video-based applications like
news-on-demand and interactive weather, video electronic mail, corporate
training-on-demand, online music CD shopping, and the recording and
playback of a real-time video conference.

"Today's announcement creates new business opportunities and distribution
methods for interactive content providers, and will move video-based
interactive applications into corporate enterprises and onto home
computers," said Lawrence J. Ellison, Oracle's chairman, president and
CEO. "The Internet is an excellent medium for delivering interactive text
and graphical content, but new technology is required to add real-time
video and audio. By combining Oracle Media Server, Intel ProShare Video
Systems and ISDN lines, we have created a new class of interactive
applications for desktop PCs."

"The world has been chasing video on demand, but what PC users want is
information on demand, which often comes in a video format," said Andrew
S. Grove, president and CEO of Intel Corporation. "Today's demonstration
shows that video rich information can be delivered cost effectively on
high performance Pentium processor-based PCs that are outfitted with
advanced communications products like ProShare Video Systems and combined
with a multimedia server like Oracle Media Server."

The two companies will provide the infrastructure for ProShare Video
Systems to access video and multimedia information from an Oracle Media
Server utilizing ISDN phone lines. The joint solution is the industry's
first to allow real-time streaming of video on demand to desktop PCs,
eliminating the need to transfer or "download" bulky video files to local
storage drives.

ISDN networks provide a viable, affordable delivery mechanism for the
deployment of video-based multimedia applications to the desktop. ISDN
provides up to ten times the bandwidth of a typical modem connected to a
standard phone line, making it the preferred medium for networked
video-based applications and desktop-quality video. Today, consumers can
order an ISDN line for the home or office from local phone companies and
network providers for as little as $24 per month.

Product Information

The Intel ProShare Video System 200 is a PC-based videoconferencing product
that allows users to see each other and work together by sharing PC
information and applications. Intel introduced the ProShare family of
products in Jan. 1994. The Video System 200 is available in 25 countries.
It can be purchased for $999 in more than 70 percent of major U.S.
metropolitan areas.

Oracle Media Server acts as a multimedia library that stores, retrieves and
manages all types of information, including video, audio, images, text and
relational data. Oracle Media Server has been adopted by several cable and
telecommunications companies for use in interactive television trials
worldwide, including Bell Atlantic, BT, NYNEX. Pacific Telesis, Telecom
Italia, US WEST and the TELE-TV consortium.

Oracle Media Server is part of the Oracle New Media family of products,
which includes Oracle Media Net networking software and the Oracle Media
Objects authoring environment. The Oracle New Media family provides an
end-to-end software architecture for delivering interactive services over
any network-broadband, ISDN, Internet or LAN (local area network)-to any
client device, television set-top or PC.

Availability and Company Information

A series of joint trials of this development effort will be conducted in
the fourth quarter of 1995. The interoperability between ProShare Video
and Oracle Media Server is targeted to be introduced within the companies'
respective product lines in the first half of 1996.
