InTEXT Systems Announces InTEXT WebServer, Content-Based Document Search &
Retrieval Engine for the Internet and Web

Natural Language Search and WAIS Compliancy Extend Easy Information Access
and Management

EMAIL/WEB WORLD-April 20, 1995--InTEXT Systems, a leader in intelligent
document agent solutions, announces the immediate availability of the
InTEXT WebServer, a content-based, WAIS compliant search and retrieval
engine for the Internet and World Wide Web. The WebServer extends InTEXT's
family of products and toolkits to allow information providers and
corporate publishers a straightforward way to provide Internet and Web
access to their documents.

"Our long-term commitment to providing robust, innovative document content
technology is really paying off in the wired world," said Richard Jones,
InTEXT's Vice President of Research and Development. "This new product is
already generating a lot of excitement among our customers. They recognize
the importance of being able to further leverage their existing investment
in corporate documentary knowledge by publishing via Internet as well as
through our existing Client/Server and CD-ROM products."

InTEXT makes it easier than ever to bring full-featured, scalable text
retrieval to Internet applications because the InTEXT WebServer is fully
compatible with all of the relevant Internet and World Wide Web standards.
WebServer databases can be searched by popular World Wide Web browsers,
such as Netscape and Mosaic, and WAIS-compliant Internet clients. InTEXT's
WebServer complies with the WAIS and Z39.50 query protocols used on the
Internet. Its databases are fully compatible with popular document
databases.

The InTEXT WebServer is part of InTEXT Systems' Heuristic/Learning
architecture which uses document surface analysis to gain content
knowledge of live and stored information. This powerful architecture
enables users to have a dynamic system that can retrieve, rank and
summarize crucial data. This unique architecture makes the InTEXT product
line, and specifically the WebServer, critical products and tools for the
highly interactive and changing content of data highways and on-line
information systems. The WebServer makes extensive use of InTEXT
Precision, a recently announced intelligent agent technology for
automatically creating content-aware, HTML marked up and "precise indexed"
documents.

In addition, the WebServer provides out-of-the-box support for all the
major document formats, including hypertext markup language (HTML), major
word processing formats and ASCII text. When non-HTML documents are
retrieved by a Web browser, they are automatically converted for viewing,
which saves information providers from having to convert and replicate
extensive collections. Documents can also be retrieved in their native
formats.

InTEXT WebServer Main Features

Open and Scalable, Full-Featured Text Retrieval--The distinguishing feature
of the WebServer is its compliance with Internet standards, along with its
powerful relevance ranking. The InTEXT WebServer comes with features like
accurate retrieval based on document content, and the ability to return
the most relevant documents in a prioritized list. The WebServer operates
in a full rang of user environments, including Solaris, SunOS, AIX and
HP/UX.

Natural Language Query Support--the WebServer's free-form English facility
is the most advanced of its kind, allowing users to simply enter queries
as sentences in order to minimize and even eliminate syntax training.

Client Support--the WebServer supports Internet browsers compatible with
WAIS and Z39.50, including Mosaic and Netscape.
