Lotus Ships Imaging Tools for Notes and cc:Mail Customers

LN:DI family incorporates paper-based information into Notes and cc:Mail
applications

NEW YORK, June 20, l 995 -- Lotus Development Corp. today announced the
immediate availability of the Lotus Image Viewer software and Print-to-Fax
driver for Notes and Lotus cc:Mail customers at no extra charge. The Image
Viewer allows users to zoom, rotate, improve the quality, view
annotations, print and mail any image document. The Print-to-Fax driver
allows Notes and cc:Mail users to send faxes from any Windows application.
These imaging tools enable users to receive and manage all types of paper
correspondence directly within Notes and cc:Mail.

"LN:DI extends Notes functionality by giving customers a way to apply the
power of document imaging to Notes." said Dave Rome, general manager,
Lotus Notes Companion Products. "Customers can take advantage of their
existing communications networks and use LN:DI to organize, search and
categorize all types of paper correspondence."

Lotus also announced the availability of Lotus Notes: Document Imaging
(LN:DI) 2.6 products, a family of Notes companion products that allows
paper-based information to be managed directly in Notes applications. The
LN:DI products effectively convert paper into electronic images for easy
retrieval, storage and distribution, and for building Notes applications
that use these images.

For example, AIDE, Inc. a Greenville, S.C., contract personnel company that
places design engineers in manufacturing firms, uses LN:DI to manage
15,000 scanned-in resumes. AIDE has implemented the LN:DI Mass Storage
System, the Workgroup OCR Option in addition to using the Lotus Fax
Server, and has thus eliminated 90% of the paper once used from a process
that used to require several hours when done manually.

Lotus Imaging Tools -- Imaging Tools comprise the Image Viewer and the
Print-to-Fax driver. The Image Viewer allows users to zoom, rotate,
improve the quality, view annotations, print and mail any image document.
From the Image Viewer, a document can be sent to the Fax or Optical
Character Recognition (OCR) server for processing. The Print-to-Fax driver
allows users to send faxes from any Windows application.

LN:DI 2.6 Professional Client -- is designed for those Notes users who need
to process paper through scanners, fax systems and OCR systems. The
Professional Edition also gives the user increased flexibility and control
over the storage of image files.

LN:DI 2.6 Mass Storage System -- offers a scaleable means for storage and
access of large image files; enhanced to support native network transports
and more than 100 optical disk drives and jukeboxes through technology
from Pegasus Disk Technologies Inc. Support for low-end optical jukeboxes
from Hewlett-Packard, IBM, Sony, NKK and Maxoptics is bundled into the
package.

LN:DI Image Processing Server -- provides a single point of administration
to route and log image file requests from LN:DI clients, NotesMail and
third-party gateways, to the appropriate imaging option (whether OCR
service, or other LN:DI services).

LN:DI Workgroup OCR -- allows Notes users to send .TIFF and .PCX image
files for OCR processing, where it converts the image into editable and
searchable text.

Lotus Fax Server -- Lotus also recently announced the availability of its
Lotus Fax Server (LFS), a fully-featured integrated fax solution for Lotus
Notes and Lotus cc:Mail that allows users to send, receive, view and
manipulate rich content faxes without leaving their familiar Notes and
cc:Mail environments.
