Olicom Expands Ethernet Product Line With New 9-Port Workgroup Hub

Enhances Network Management for 16-port Managed Ethernet Hub

June 20, 1995, PC EXPO, New York, NY - Olicom (NASDAQ: NMS, OLCMF), a
leading provider of high-performance network solutions, today announced
that it has expanded its Ethernet family of networking products with the
addition of a 9-port stackable hub, designed specifically to meet the
needs of small and medium-sized workgroups. The flexible, modular design
of the new hub makes it ideal for companies who need to provide
cost-effective Ethernet connectivity for departments or other small
communities of users that anticipate future growth and expansion of their
workgroup.

In addition, Olicom announced a series of network management enhancements
for its 16-port Managed Ethernet hub, adding two new "snap-in" management
modules for HP's OpenView for Windows and Novell's NetWare Management
System (NMS) to its complete SNMP management facilities.

"Working with our customers, we've discovered that to effectively address
their workgroup requirements, organizations are searching for
fully-managed, standards-based solutions that are both cost-effective and
scalable, so that users essentially 'pay as they go,' " said Max Jensen,
president and CEO of Olicom USA. "Our new 9-port Ethernet hub and our
existing 16-port hubs allow customers to start small, then add on as their
workgroup expands. And, by enhancing our network management capabilities
to include fully integrated event facilities for both HP OpenView and
Novell Management System, network managers now receive a comprehensive
view of their network so problems can be identified and resolved quickly
and easily."

Olicom Ethernet 9-Port Hub

The new 9-port hub provides connectivity for up to eight 10Base-T end
stations and a BNC connector for connectivity to an Ethernet backbone or
end station. Up to 30 hubs can be cascaded to accommodate workgroup
expansion. The hub is palm-sized, making it convenient for desktop or
wall-mounting.

Like Olicom's 16-port Ethernet hubs, the new 9-port hub improves network
availability by automatically recovering from most network failures. If a
cable between two hubs is not functioning properly, each hub will
automatically disable the connection, allowing the workgroups connected to
continue operation independently. If a hub detects a failing user
connection, it will automatically partition the port to prevent disruption
of other network transmissions. When a partitioned port resumes normal
operation, automatic reconnect facilities ensure that the port is added to
the network again. Each Olicom Ethernet hub includes an AC to DC power
adapter in one of four different versions for North America, Japan,
Continental Europe and the UK. As with all Olicom Ethernet products, the
new 9-port hub is based on the formalized Ethernet standards IEEE 802.3,
providing interoperability and easy integration with Ethernet products
from other suppliers.

Network Management Enhancements

To further improve upon the management facilities for its existing 16-port
Ethernet hub, Olicom has added two "snap-in" application modules that
attach to Olicom's existing SNMP-based Ethernet Hub Manager. The Ethernet
Hub Manager for HP OpenView for Windows and the Ethernet Hub Manager for
Novell's NetWare Management System offer fully integrated event facilities
for both NMS and HP OpenView for Windows, allowing network administrators
to quickly and easily pinpoint problems in the network before users report
them.

The new Hub Manager applications provide complete status information on
Olicom hubs in the user's network, and allow administrators to make
immediate configuration parameter changes as needed. In addition, the Hub
Manager's intuitive, graphical user interface (GUI) makes it easy for
network administrators to understand and use the application, resulting in
time and cost savings.

Pricing and Availability

The Olicom 9-port Ethernet Hub is available now at a U.S. List price of
$299. The Ethernet Hub Manager for HP OpenView for Windows and the
Ethernet Hub Manager for Novell's NMS are provided as free-of-charge
upgrades to the 16-port Managed Ethernet Hub. The entire family of Olicom
Stackable Ethernet Hubs will be demonstrated at the PC Expo Conference and
Exhibition in New York City, June 20-22, booth number 2473.

Olicom develops and markets Token-Ring, Ethernet and ATM local area network
