PeopleSoft Announces Plans To Support Microsoft SQL Server 6

Expands Customer Options For Deployment Of Enterprise Client/Server
Applications

NEW YORK, June 20, 1995 -- PeopleSoft, Inc. (NASDAQ: PSFT), a leading
supplier of client/server business software, today announced plans to
offer versions of its popular client/server business applications for the
Microsoft SQL Server 6 relational database system. The company has begun
testing of its products with beta versions of Microsoft SQL Server 6.
PeopleSoft expects to announce availability dates for Microsoft SQL Server
6 versions of its PeopleSoft Financials, Distribution, Manufacturing, and
HRMS products later this year.

The move to support Microsoft SQL Server 6 reflects PeopleSoft's approach
to make its advanced client/server business applications available on a
broad range of hardware and database platforms. This strategy offers
customers the flexibility to optimize their computing environments
independent of their choice of applications.

Frank Strelau, PeopleSoft director of channels development, said of the
move, "The growing acceptance of Microsoft NT Server, combined with the
enhanced functionality and performance of Microsoft SQL Server 6, offers
our customers a powerful, cost-effective option. We expect that the
performance and scalabilty of Microsoft SQL Server 6, combined with its
ease of use and manageability, will make it a very attractive enterprise
application platform, and we plan to be there."

According to recent figures from the market research firm Dataquest, sales
of Windows NT Server are accelerating rapidly, with the installed base of
Windows NT expected to equal or surpass that of UNIX by 1997. As Windows
NT emerges as a strategic, enterprise-class platform, Microsoft SQL Server
6 will represent an attractive choice for the enterprise-class
client/server applications offered by PeopleSoft.

Jim Allchin, senior vice president of Microsoft Corporation's business
systems division, said of the announcement, "We are pleased that
PeopleSoft is supporting Microsoft SQL Server 6. The combination of SQL
Server's distributed computing capabilities and PeopleSoft's client/server
business applications provides comprehensive solutions to our mutual
customers in large organizations."

As a Microsoft Solutions Provider, Peoplesoft will participate in joint
marketing and promotion programs with Microsoft. The two companies already
work closely together on a variety of fronts, with PeopleSoft leveraging
Microsoft technology in its applications. Microsoft Windows is the sole
client operating system for PeopleSoft's client/server applications, and
Microsoft desktop applications Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Word are
integrated into PeopleSoft query and reporting tools. PeopleSoft was an
alpha and beta test site for Microsoft SQL Server 6, and the PeopleSoft
HRMS application currently runs on Microsoft SQL Server 4.1.
