New Radius Graphics Cards Transform PCI-based Power Macintosh and Mac
OS-based Computers into Powerful Professional Imaging Workstations

ThunderColor, Thunder and PrecisionColor Series Deliver Most Advanced
Graphics and Imaging Tools for Creative Professionals

Sunnyvale, CA--June 19, 1995--Radius Inc. (NASDA-RDUS), the market leader
in Mac OS based high-end graphics boards, today announced the
ThunderColor, Thunder and PrecisionColor series of PCI-based graphics
cards, the fastest, highest resolution accelerated graphics interfaces
available for the Apple Power Macintosh 9500 and other Mac OS based, PCI
bus computers. Consisting of five different models, the ThunderColor,
Thunder and PrecisionColor series of graphics cards are designed to
provide creative professionals with greater functionality and high
performance.

Building upon the success of its original Thunder series, Radius' new
ThunderColor, Thunder and PrecisionColor series of graphics cards offer
their owners a high return on their investment by delivering broad and
innovative features and increased performance. All of Radius' new carts
offer Super Resolution (1600 x 1200) graphics, ColorComposer color
matching software and Dynamic Desktop software. These features combine to
create the most comprehensive graphics acceleration feature set available
on one card, at prices up to 50 percent lower than previous generations of
Thunder graphics cards.

Radius' ThunderColor series, designed for color critical applications,
turns Power Macintosh 9500 and other Mac OS based PCI systems into
professional color workstations by providing the fastest Photoshop
acceleration available via a built-in ColorEngine Photoshop accelerator
daughtercard. The Thunder series is geared toward professional design and
layout applications and is upgradeable to the ThunderColor series. The
PrecisionColor card, with a lower price point and mainstream-oriented
features, delivers Super Resolution display clarity to improve the
productivity of corporate color users.

"Radius' new products deliver greater performance and higher functionality
in areas critical to creative professionals and can easily pay for
themselves in increased productivity in a matter of weeks," said Kevin
Macgillivray, general manager and vice president of Radius' Color
Publishing Group. "With the introduction of PCI-based graphics cards,
Radius is now able to provide outstanding tools for content creators on
any PCI or NuBus-based Power Macintosh."

Fastest Photoshop Acceleration Available

With ColorEngine's four 80 MHz DSPs, the ThunderColor series offers
outstanding Photoshop acceleration in the tradition of Radius' highly
acclaimed Thunder IV graphics technology and PhotoEngine Photoshop
accelerator. By incorporating ColorEngine technology into the ThunderColor
series of cards, users gain Adobe-charged Photoshop acceleration for
resamples, filters, mode conversions, and on-screen graphics acceleration
for display of CMYK images.

ColorEngine's custom ASIC provides increased productivity to creative
professionals that work primarily in the printing industry's CMYK mode on
their display. Those who work with detailed images can operate directly in
CMYK format without the performance degradation associated with display
redraw of Photoshop CMYK images. In addition to the acceleration of other
functions such as filtering and resampling, this feature will allow users
to spend more time exploring their creative options.

The ThunderColor and Thunder series provide the fastest Photoshop scrolling
capability available, which saves time and money.

Clearer, Sharper, More Detailed Images

Radius' Super Resolution of 1600 x 1200, available in 30-bit mode on the
ThunderColor 30/1600 and Thunder 30/1600 models (all models support 1600 x
1200 x 8-bit), nearly doubles the maximum built-in video resolution of
1152 x 870 available on some Power Macintosh 9500 systems. Super
Resolution displays 92 percent more pixels than standard resolution which
provides creative professionals with greater image detail, smoother
graphics, more on-screen color and the maximum desktop area available on
the Macintosh today.

Super Resolution dramatically enhances the professional's view of intricate
QuarkXPress, Illustrator, PageMaker, Acrobat and FreeHand documents. The
Super Resolution feature of the Thunder series and PrecisionColor cards is
designed to complement Radius' line of high resolution displays, the
PressView SR Color Reference Display Systems and the PrecisionView family
of displays. The combination of these products results in the ultimate
color desktop solution that delivers the fastest drawing speed, greater
desktop workspace, and accurate color matching for greater performance and
productivity.

Professional Color Accuracy

The ThunderColor and Thunder graphics cards incorporate ChromaFlow
technology, which allows users access to a 30-bit color palette when used
in conjunction with Radius' ProSense Display Calibrator. This means that
users are able to choose from a palette of more than one billion colors
which virtually eliminates banding ant more accurately displays subtle
nuances in shadows and highlights. ChromaFlow technology is ideal for
applications such as photo retouching, medical imaging and scientific
image processing, where color accuracy is critical.

Innovative Features that Maximize Productivity

Radius' new graphics cards combine a variety of features that add value by
increasing performance in specific functions that are critical to creative
professionals, reducing cumbersome compatibility problems and allowing
users to take advantage of pre-installed hardware in Macintosh 9500
systems.

Unlike other graphics cards that use pan and zoom functions built into some
software applications, Radius incorporated pan and zoom capabilities into
the hardware, which increases the performance of these functions for the
ThunderColor and Thunder series only. Hardware pan and zoom instantly
magnifies the screen image up to eight times for easier viewing of small
detail areas. Additionally, Radius ThunderColor has image effect filters,
which provide accelerated Photoshop plug-in filters for Fractal Painter,
Adobe Premiere and other applications.

All of the cards are fully compatible with a wide variety of industry
displays by supporting both horizontal and vertical sync, and sync on
green. This feature eliminates the need to purchase a new display that
only understands horizontal and vertical sync. Additionally, users may
upgrade the PrecisionColor card with standard VRAM to increase 24-bit
capability to 1152 x 870 resolution.

Color Matching Made Easy With ColorComposer

Radius' color matching software, ColorComposer, is bundled with the new
ThunderColor and Thunder series as well as the PrecisionColor cards.
ColorComposer enables users to match their display's appearance to other
displays in their work group or even to various color printers.
ColorComposer ships with a printer reference file showing numerous color
patterns. Users may print the file, then adjust the color patterns
on-screen until they match the print out. This works for any
display/printer combination and is a form of "perceptual color matching,"
as close a match as the user's eye can distinguish.

ColorComposer also offers simple control over white point settings, a
critical component to matching the white color of paper, which varies
widely from the yellow tones of newsprint to the bright white of laser
printer paper. Included as part of ColorComposer's Basic Tools are
on-the-fly adjustment of the display white point, image linearity and
balance.

On-the-Fly Resolution Control with Dynamic Desktop

Radius' Dynamic Desktop software enables users to change resolution and
bit-depth on the fly without having to reboot or re-launch applications.
The easy-to-use pull-down menu and hot keys option, allows creative
professionals using the Thunder Color, Thunder, and PrecisionColor
products to navigate quickly and easily through complex documents and
images using the lightning fast hardware pan and zoom function.
