SAMSUNG DEBUTS ITS FIRST CD-ROM DRIVE

New Four-Speed Model Signals Samsung's Entry Into The Optical Storage
Market

June 20, 1995 -- RIDGEFIELD PARK, N.J. -- Samsung Electronics America (SEA)
has expanded its line of advanced storage products with the introduction
of its first CD-ROM drive. The new four-speed CD-ROM drive will be on
display at Samsung's booth (#4038) throughout PC EXPO in New York, June
20-22.

According to Jeff Edelstein, Samsung's Senior Marketing Manager for Storage
Products, "Samsung has added the CD-ROM drive to its storage line to meet
the growing consumer demand for running popular CD-based software and
entertainment titles on their multimedia PCs. As one of the few hard disk
manufacturers to offer an optical product, the CD-ROM drive positions
Samsung as a full storage provider."

Samsung's four-speed CD-ROM drive is MPC-2 compliment and features an
enhanced AT-API interface. The tray-loading drive has an access time of
220ms, a seek time of 190ms and a buffer memory capacity of 256Kb.

In addition to standard CD-ROM and CD Audio discs, the SCR-630 drive is
compatible with multisession PHOTO-CD discs. The drive is also XA and
Video CD ready. For personal audio enjoyment, it features a headphone jack
and volume control. The SCR630 has a MTBF rating of 70,000 hours. It will
