Xerox Introduces New Multifunction Brand with Document WorkCenter Pro 610
Launch

PALO ALTO, Calif., June 12, 1995--To better serve the document needs of
workgroup users across all office environments, Xerox today announced the
availability of the Document WorkCenter Pro 610. This new fax-centric
multifunction platform delivers robust plain-paper laser faxing and
digital copying features with the option for printing and/or scanning
functionality. This new product entry introduces Xerox' s Document
WorkCenter brand name. The new brand line will grow to become a family of
multifunction products that address the changing needs of the workgroup,
small office and home office markets.

"The Document WorkCenter Pro 6 10 is a robust fax system designed for
mid-volume fax environments," said Josh Mailman, product manager for the
Xerox Desktop Document Systems division. "We know that fax is mission
critical to any business, but we didn't stop there . We've designed the
Document WorkCenter Pro 610 to allow our customers to grow the system in a
variety of different ways. If they want to connect to a PC and take
advantage of 600 dpi laser printing from DOS or Windows, or scan a paper
document and convert it to an editable file, we have the solution. They
have the flexibility to add the functionality they need, when they need
it."

Multitasking Multifunctionality--Because Productivity is Crucial

The Document WorkCenter Pro 610 is one of the few devices in its category
that allows users to perform multiple functions simultaneously. For
example, while a user is sending a fax, he/she can scan and/or print a
document at the same time. The printing, faxing, and document scanning
functions were specifically designed to work independently to increase
workgroup productivity.

"Waiting for a machine to free itself from performing a function before you
initiate another decreases productivity," said Mailman. "We've really
concentrated on making people more productive through features like
multi-access capability and an easy-to-use interface."

The One Place Where Things Get Done

** Advanced Fax and Copy Functionality for Workgroup Needs

With the increase in fax usage in small offices and workgroups comes the
need to provide advanced fax functionality. To save time and increase
overall productivity, the Document WorkCenter Pro 610 delivers less than 7
second transmission times combined with 300 dpi scanning operation at a
rate of 6 seconds per page. The device comes standard with a 40-page
memory, which is upgradeable to 200 pages for organizations receiving and
sending large numbers of faxes or to take advantage of delayed fax
transmission for lower line charges.

Fax management is enhanced with the ability to program 100 auto dial
numbers and up to 10 one-touch group dials for broadcasting faxes to
multiple numbers . The Document WorkCenter Pro 610 also provides up to 10
individual mailboxes for confidential receipt and retrieval of faxes from
remote locations. A 250 sheet paper tray can be upgraded to 500 sheets for
higher office productivity and capacity.

The copying function allows users to make up to 99 copies of any single
page with a 92% and 75% reduction capability. Because the scanner sends
pages to memory before it makes copies, users may select automatic
collation.

For users requiring high quality laser printing, The Document WorkCenter
Pro 610 offers Windows and DOS printing capability as an available option.
The printer option supports PCL Se with 600 dpi resolution that includes
resolution enhancement. This option represents one of the first affordable
600 dpi printing accessories for fax multifunction systems.

  ControlCenter Software Highlight Scanning Accessory

The available scanning option for the Document WorkCenter Pro 610 offers
300x300 dpi scanning capability that can be used in conjunction with most
TWAIN-compatible scanning software packages. This scanning option offers
OCR capability with the inclusion of TextBridge 3.0. This new version of
Xerox' s OCR package is highly regarded in the industry for its accuracy,
speed, and ease-of-use.

Xerox's DocuRT engine--the core technology behind TextBridge 3.0--received
top-tier honors for its conversion accuracy and data throughput in the
fourth annual test conducted by the Information science Research Institute
(ISRI) at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas. Using the Document
WorkCenter Pro 610 as the scanning source for TextBridge, users can scan
and recognize documents from within their favorite word processing program
or they can use TextBridge as a stand alone application.

To ensure ease of set up and operation, the scanning accessory includes the
unique Xerox ControlCenter software (see attached illustration). In
addition to setting up fax functions, this unique software allows the user
to configure all operations of the device from an intuitive Windows
interface.

First in a New Line of Multifunction Devices

The Document WorkCenter Pro 610 represents the first product offering in a
new product line being offered by Xerox that is dedicated to the
productivity of workgroup and small office/home office users. Xerox
multifunction devices carrying the Document WorkCenter name will be
introduced throughout the remainder of 1 995 and beyond.

list price of US$2,495. The PC printing option carries a list price of
US$495. The scanning connectivity, including TextBridge and ControlCenter
software, has a list price of US$99. The 2.0 megabyte memory upgrade has a
list price of $ 199, and the additional 250 sheet paper frame carries a
list price US$99. The Document WorkCenter Pro 610 is available now; the
printing accessories will be available during the third quarter of 1995.
