Ansoft Announces Parametric Analysis Module for the Maxwell EM 2D Field
Simulator

PITTSBURGH, Pa., Feb. 14, 1994 -- Ansoft Corporation introduced the
addition of the Parametric Analysis module for the Maxwell EM 2D Field
Simulator, version 6.2. This new capability enables users to quickly
evaluate multiple design options without tedious batch programs and
incessant manual iterations of the same analysis. Design alterations,
trade-offs, and "what if" questions are conveniently built into the
analysis process. This unique and powerful feature enables the user to
select the solution which best fulfills the design objectives.

The Maxwell EM Field Simulator is a powerful CAE tool for
electromechanical, high voltage, and magnetic design applications
operating in the PC and workstation environment. Version 6.1 of the
Maxwell EM 2D Field Simulator was the first electromagnetic simulation
software running under the Microsoft Windows operating system.

With the Parametric Analysis module, the user can simulate the behavior of
an electromagnetic device or system across a spectrum of possibilities and
select the best design given the choice's available. The effects of
varying geometry (e.g., shape, position, and orientation of objects),
material properties (e.g., permittivity, permeability and conductivity),
excitations (e.g., voltages and currents) and operational frequency may be
analyzed in a single session.

As each parameter is changed, Maxwell automatically creates a new
simulation, solves and extracts the value of interest (force, torque,
flux, matrices and fields), which may then be visualized in the integrated
post processor. Such studies make it easy to quantify the effects of
design changes and to satisfy design objectives without the time and
expense of building prototypes.

"Ansoft product designers have created a unique synergy between the power
of total user control and the ease of total automation" said P. Premkumar,
Ansoft's Manager of Product Development. "Users can now explore a
multitude of design alternatives of their choice within a simple
push-button software solution."

The Parametric Analysis module is provided as an add-on module for the
Maxwell EM Field Simulator. It works in tandem with all the current 2D
modules (Maxwell DC Magnetics, Maxwell AC Magnetics, and Maxwell
Electrostatics). The Parametric Analysis module is available for the
purchase price of $2,900 (PC version) and $4,900 (UNIX version).

Additionally, Ansoft has lowered the pricing of all the Maxwell EM 2D
Modules. The 2D modules (Maxwell DC Magnetics, Maxwell AC Magnetics, and
Maxwell Electrostatics) are now priced at $2,900 for one or $6,900 for all
three modules. The new pricing strategy provides companies with a low cost
entry point to equip all their engineers with a powerful, magnetic design
tool. Prices listed are in US dollars and for US installation. For
international installation, contact Ansoft for information.

Based in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, Ansoft Corporation has over 1000
customers worldwide in the automotive, aerospace, electronic and
manufacturing sectors. Ansoft's Maxwell SI (Signal Integrity) product line
targets the electronic design automation (EDA) market place. Ansoft also
developed the microwave CAE tool, the High Frequency Structure Simulator
(HFSS), sold worldwide by the Hewlett-Packard Company.
