Playmates Enters Video Game Market

LA MIRADA, CA -- Playmates Toys Inc. is entering the video game business
for the first time. Playmates, the maker of Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles
and Star Trek: The Next Generation action figure lines, previewed its
first game titles for both the Super Nintendo and Sega Genesis 16-bit
video game systems at the Winter Consumer Electronics Show in January.

"We believe many of the toy properties we acquire will also make excellent
video game properties," says Richard Sallis, president of Playmates,
"Matching our marketing expertise with our knack for acquiring hot
licenses makes good business sense."

Star Trek: Deep Space Nine, a game based on the syndicated series, and Exo
Squad, based upon a Universal Cartoon Network series, both scheduled for a
fall release. Both games are being developed for Playmates by Novotrade
International.

The two titles are the first in a series of software titles Playmates will
be marketing for both the Super Nintendo and Sega Genesis systems. Other
current and pending releases from Novotrade include Ecco the Dolphin and
Cyborg Justice, for Sega: Richard Scarry's Busytown, for Paramount
Interactive; and Peter Pan's Storypainting Adventure, for Electronic
Arts.
