Sega Enterprises Plans Video-Game Satellite Hook-Up with Japanese Cable

TOKYO -- Sega Enterprises Ltd. plans to beam video games into Japanese
homes via broadcast catellite and cable TV in the latter part of this
decade, a spokesperson for the company said.

Sega - along with software makers Capcom Co., Konami Corp., and Taito
Corp., and public-TV entity Japan Broadcasting Corp. - has set up an
entertainment task force and is awaiting changes in Japanese broadcast
regulations that would make the next-generation gaming possible. The
hook-up would offer gamers access to a host of video-game software.

Sega plans to use the BS4 broadcast satellilte to be launched in 1997, the
spokesperson said. And the entertainment task force is already looking
into such specifics as how to charge for the satellite gaming.
