Six New Wilson Abstracts

The H.W. Wilson Company is pleased to announce the creation of six new
Wilson Abstracts covering the areas of science, technology, art,
education, the humanities, and social sciences. Two of the new Wilson
Abstracts databases, Wilson Applied Science & Technology Abstracts and
Wilson General Science Abstracts, will be demonstrated at the ALA
Midwinter Conference in Los Angeles.

Wilson Abstracts give librarians the advantage of meeting their patrons'
periodical research needs in a single search. Written by professional
abstractors, the abstracts range from 50 to 150 words each, and
consistently extract key points from each periodical article
indexed--including facts, figures, names of corporations, individuals, and
key government agencies--often making it unnecessary to locate the
original article.

Modeled after the highly successful Readers' Guide Abstracts (introduced in
1987) and Wilson Business Abstracts (introduced in 1990), the new Wilson
Abstracts save time, effort, and resources and make serving patrons easier
and more cost-effective. And, Wilson Abstracts always cover the core
literature--publications most often requested by library patrons.

Available on CD-ROM, on tape, and online, the new Wilson Abstracts are:

Wilson Applied Science & Technology Abstracts--Comprehensive abstracting
and indexing of some 400 leading trade and industrial publications,
journals issued by professional and technical societies, and specialized
subject periodicals. In addition, the database provides access to product
reviews and references to conferences and seminars. Coverage includes
everything from aeronautics and space science to transportation. Indexing
coverage from 10/83; abstracting from 3/93. Monthly updates on disc and on
tape. Updated twice weekly online. Available July 1994.

Wilson General Science Abstracts--Comprehensive abstracting and indexing of
more than 140 popular and professional science journals published in the
U.S. and Great Britain as well as the Science Section of The New York
Times. Indexing coverage from 5/84; abstracting from 3/93. Monthly updates
on disc and on tape. Updated twice weekly online. Available July 1994.

works of art. Available on CD-ROM, online, and on tape in 1995.
