AVAIL ROLLS OUT COMPATIBILITY STRATEGY

Leading Vendors Support Strategy -- HP, DEC, Exabyte, ADIC and others
incorporate compatibility plan

Boulder, Colorado -- June 6, 1994 -- Avail Systems Corporation today
announced a comprehensive plan for ensuring compatibility in Hierarchical
Storage Management (HSM) products. By utilizing a series of identifying
logos in conjunction with components of Avail's NetSpace HSM software,
users have an easily identifiable means for assurance of compatibility,
quality and simple installation. The plan has received quick acceptance in
the industry.

Hierarchical Storage Management is a means to automatically store network
data on various storage peripherals, such as hard disks, tape libraries
and optical jukeboxes, in a manner to optimize cost of storage and data
access time. HSM systems provide management of network files at a fraction
of the cost of conventional network storage. Because of the variety of
operating environments, application software and storage hardware in use,
Avail saw the need to simplify building a reliable HSM system.

Avail's new program takes the guesswork out of using HSM. It enables VARs
to be the HSM integration point and offer complete solutions, with
consistent support, full compatibility, the highest quality products and
the ability to grow the HSM system as the user's needs change. The initial
cost of purchasing an HSM system is lower, because the compatibility
program is based on building from a variety of HSM-compatible components.
Users can start with a NetSpace base system, and later continue to add
more storage (or additional "layers") as they need it. The program aids
all areas of HSM use - purchasers of an HSM system, users of existing
hardware who wish to add HSM capabilities to their network, and for
developers of software applications and operating systems which
incorporate HSM functionality into their software.

NetSpace INCLUDED is a program for identifying complete HSM systems -
including the hardware and NetSpace software that have guaranteed
compatibility testing, and for identifying software application packages
and operating systems which incorporate NetSpace HSM.

NetSpace READY is a program for purchasing storage hardware complete with
Avail's NetSpace storage capacity drivers, to ensure users ease of
installation and plug-and-play compatibility with NetSpace.

NetSpace Able is a program to readily identify hardware and software
compatible to run NetSpace HSM software.

Awareness is obtained by placement of the NetSpace compatibility logos on
storage vendors' packaging, collateral, documentation and advertisements.

Leading Vendors Support Strategy

Avail has seen great support for the introduction of the compatibility
strategy. Most of the leading storage hardware manufacturers who have
discussed the plan with Avail quickly adopted the compatibility strategy,
including Hewlett-Packard, Digital Equipment Company, Exabyte, ADIC,
Maxoptix, Pinnacle Micro, and SpectraLogic. Software companies whose
products currently use HSM or will use HSM in the future, are also in
discussion with Avail.

"Avail understands the HSM market requirements better than anyone, and that
understanding is embodied in their software technology," said Dan
Stromska, Vice President of Sales and Marketing for ADIC. "HSM means much
more than just the ability to work with autochangers. The addition of
Avail's HSM software to our product line allows us to implement fully
integrated, total storage automation."

"Digital is pleased to have the industry leader in HSM software for Novell
support our DLT technology as an ideal solution for HSM environments,"
said Jack Sharp, business manager of Digital's OEM Storage Business.
"Avail's HSM offerings, which are designed to make Novell network storage
easy, efficient and cost-effective, are an excellent complement to our DLT
solutions."

"Avail is pleased to have the industry's leaders in network storage adopt
the NetSpace compatibility strategy. Their commitment to supply usable,
interoperable solutions for their HSM customers indicates the quickening
pace of NetSpace's acceptance in the market," said Robert S. Wight,
President and CEO of Avail Systems.

Avail Systems Corporation was the first company to develop Hierarchical
Storage Management software for Novell networks. Avail has been ranked one
of the "rising stars" in the PC industry by the financial community and
Avail's software, as an OEM product of Conner (Conner HSM), has won
several industry awards, including finalist for PC Magazine's Technical
Excellence Award for Networking Software (12/93) and VAR Business's
Storage Product of the Year Award (1/94). Avail Systems, founded in 1991,
is a privately held corporation whose investors include Hambrecht & Quist
and Aweida Ventures. For further information, contact Avail at
