GREYSTONE INTRODUCES NEW 3.5-INCH MINICARDDOCK UNIVERSAL DESKTOP
READER/WRITER FOR PCMCIA CARDS

Interface For Desktop PCs Priced $129 ($99 OEM); Supports PC Card Types I,
II, III

Los Gatos, CA -- June 13, 1994 -- Greystone Peripherals, Inc., the leader
in affordable PCMCIA accessories and software duplication systems,
announced today its latest PCMCIA product, the MiniCardDock, a 3.5 inch
universal desktop reader/writer for PC cards. The unit allows desktop
users to upgrade desktop PCs for PCMCIA technology with full card and
platform interchangeability with mobile PCs.

The MiniCardDock enables full sharing of peripherals, updating and
correcting files and modifying and loading software. A variety of PC Cards
-- memory, network, fax/modem, wireless communication, I/O or disk drive
-- can be used interchangeably by both mobile and desktop platforms as
needed. Software seamlessly manages the auto-configuration of each PC Card
as it is inserted and removed, at any time.

"The MiniCardDock reader/writer link between desktop PCs and mobile PCs is
critical for full acceptance of these PC cards," said John Usher,
Greystone's vice president of sales and marketing. "Users can insert and
eject PC Cards just as easily as they would a floppy disk, without having
to power down the system or risk any data loss. The unit provides full
interchangeability, allowing PC Cards to be moved from system to system
and slot to slot, for true plug-and-play.

Fully compliant with PCMCIA version 2.0 specifications for memory and I/O
cards and Intel ExCA specifications, the single-socket MiniCardDock
enables easy plug-and-play of any memory, ATA and I/O PC cards designed to
PCMCIA specifications. The MiniCardDock is a totally compatible solution
for reading and writing data, and the exchange of data files and
peripheral I/O functions Between mobile and desktop PCs using PC Cards.

Greystone's Mini-CardDock reader/writer conveniently mounts into a standard
3.5-inch half-height drive slot and supports +5 volt and +3 volt PC card
Types I, II and m. The unit is designed to mount PC cards almost flush
with the PC' s front bezel. This, together with the company' s proprietary
pushbutton mechanism, can eliminate card damage or bent internal connector
leads due to improper insertion or removal.

The MiniCardDock software manages system resources with easy-to-use pop-up
menus, and includes DOS- and Windows-compatible PCMCIA Card Services and
Socket Services software for configuring the system and each PC Card,
managing I/O ports, interrupt levels and memory blocks. The software also
allows hot insertion/removal, an important feature for preserving data
integrity and preventing data loss. PC Cards can thus be moved from system
to system, one slot to another, without identification conflicts, much as
a floppy diskette.

Each unit comes complete with hardware and software for turnkey operation.
This includes single-slot docking bay hardware, a low-profile (for maximum
airflow) PC interface card which installs into any 16-bit AT-bus slot,
cables and software. The CardDock unit is easy to install and use,
featuring LED read/write activity indicators.
