STB Adopts 3Dlabs' GLINT 3D Processor for New Line of Graphics Boards

Power 3-D System board family to deliver workstation-class 3D graphics
performance and functionality to desktop PC's

Richardson, Texas (June 13, 1994)--STB Systems, Inc., today announced its
plans to develop a family of graphics boards using the GLINT 3D processor
chip from 3Dlabs Inc. STB's Power 3D System boards will deliver
high-speed, true-color 3D graphics acceleration that rivals the graphics
performance currently being delivered by such high-end workstations as the
Silicon Graphics Indigo Elan.

New Standard for 3D Graphics

"We believe the 3D graphics capabilities provided by this product family
will lead us into the next generation of graphics accelerators for the
personal computer," said Gary Kellar, Director of Video Product Marketing.
"Our family of 3D accelerator cards will set new graphics standards for 3D
acceleration by raising the expected performance to levels usually
associated with expensive graphics workstations for a fraction of the
cost."

"We will offer a variety of Power 3-D System boards at a range of price
points to meet the needs of everyone ranging from gaming enthusiasts to
the sophisticated scientific users. We know of no other silicon solution
that provides both complete OpenGL compliance and graphics acceleration as
the 3Dlabs' GLINT processor solution. In addition, 3Dlabs will also supply
the software drivers necessary to deliver high levels of functionality to
the graphics market place," Kellar added.

Power 3-D System to Offer Full Suite of Hardware and Software Features

The Power 3-D System boards will be built to take full advantage of Intel's
PCI Local Bus specification and will provide such features as direct
OpenGL support, configurable VRAM frame buffer sizes, as well as up to 6
megabytes of Z-buffer DRAM. Performance is rated as high as 300K shaded, Z
buffered, anti-aliased, 24-bit true color polygons per second and also
includes accelerated high quality texture mapping in the hardware.

STB will add unique software features, including virtual desktop support
that allows a Windows NT work area spanning multiple monitors providing
increased productivity. In addition, STB will also supply an entire suite
of installation and desktop control utilities, as well as support for
popular 3D application programming interfaces (APIs) for Microsoft
Windows, Windows NT, AutoCAD and ProEngineer from Parametric Technology.

3Dlabs GLINT 300 is Driving Force of Graphics Performance

STB plans to design boards using the pin-compatible GLINT 300GX and GLINT
300TX variants to provide a range of high performance, OpenGL-compatible
Power 3-D System accelerators. The 3Dlabs GLINT processors pack the
equivalent of a high-end graphics workstation board-set onto a single
chip. GLINT provides complete 24-bit 2D and 3D acceleration, on-chip PCI
compliant local bus interface, and LUT-DAC control, making a complete
graphics subsystem possible with minimal chip count. GLINT implements all
the OpenGL rendering operations in silicon, including gouraud shading,
depth buffering, texture mapping, anti-aliasing and alpha blending.

STB and 3Dlabs Combine Engineering Expertise

3Dlabs brings a wealth of 3D graphics technology to the engineering
process. "We selected 3Dlabs based on their superior knowledge and past
experience developing advanced 3D silicon, not to forget the vital
software support that will enable STB to deliver a quality 3D graphics
accelerator," said Bill Ogle, President and CEO of STB Systems, Inc. "We
believe STB is aggressively pursuing an industry leadership role by
announcing our new marketing and product development agreement with
3Dlabs."

3Dlabs also agrees that the new arrangement will be beneficial to both
parties. "We look forward to building a close relationship with STB by
ensuring that our silicon meets the needs of STB and its customers," said
Osman Kent, President and CEO of 3Dlabs. "We believe that STB's unique
blend of high-end application experience and volume manufacturing
expertise makes them ideally suited to bring 3D graphics to the PC
mainstream."

Pricing and Delivery Dates

GLINT silicon is expected in the third quarter of 1994, with evaluation
Power 3-D boards arriving as soon as fourth quarter 1994. Power 3-D boards
will be competitively priced and will range from $499 to $1,599 depending
on the memory and GLINT silicon configuration desired.
