NEC TECHNOLOGIES REPORTS STRONG ORDER RATE AS IT BEGINS SHIPPING
FIRST-OF-ITS-KIND CORPORATE MULTIMEDIA PCs

(Boxborough, Mass., June 1, 1994) -- NEC Technologies, Inc. (NECT) reports
triple the expected rate of orders for the first-of-its-kind corporate
multimedia PCs, which are now shipping. The new NECT Image 4100m, 466m and
450m are the first multimedia PCs geared solely to the specialized needs
of corporate users.

Multimedia for Business

Responding to explosive growth in business multimedia applications, NECT
developed the Image 4100m, 466m and 450m corporate multimedia systems to
exceed the performance of home-user targeted multimedia systems already
developed.

"Business users require more powerful multimedia machines than those sold
for home use," said Denny Lane, director of marketing for NECT Desktop
Systems. "Our corporate multimedia PCs come with 8MB of system memory, a
420MB hard disk drive, our triple-speed MultiSpin 3Xi CD-ROM drive, a
16-bit Sound-Blaster compatible stereo sound card, Labtec CS-800 speakers,
headphone, microphone and Lotus Development Corp.'s ScreenCam multimedia
macro-recorder program. NECT corporate multimedia systems give users the
power and versatility they need without the expense of "edutainment"-type
software targeted at the small office/home office (SOHO) market."

"Business applications for multimedia desktop technology are exploding and
show every sign of increasing exponentially in the near term," Lane
commented. "Many already are using heavily detailed industrial reference
works in their businesses. These works give companies information that is
critical for product research and development, customer research, review
of detailed information databases and more."

By offering the Lotus ScreenCam multimedia macro-recorder program as part
of its multimedia systems, NECT provides a distinct advantage to its
customers. The Lotus ScreenCam program represents the next step in
corporate multimedia technology. It enables users to record dynamic
movements or procedures as they are executed on-screen in one location and
communicate them quickly, easily and completely to other
similarly-equipped NECT computer users elsewhere. ScreenCam technology
improves productivity among members of "teams" of employees at scattered
locations who are working cooperatively on single or related projects
-large or small. It gives team members the benefit of thorough, detailed,
easily understandable information about key project aspects.
