PROXIM AND WOLLONGONG PRODUCT COMPATIBILITY BRINGS WIRELESS LAN USERS
ACCESS TO UNIX HOST SYSTEMS

Wollongong's PathWay Product Line and Proxim's RangeLAN2 Products Enable
the Connection of Mobile Systems to TCP/IP-Based Network Systems

MOUNTAIN VIEW, Calif, June 13, 1994 -- Proxim, Inc., the leader in spread
spectrum wireless networking products for mobile computer users, and the
Wollongong Group, Inc., a leader in open systems solutions based on
industry standards, today announced product line interoperability that
will allow Proxim RangeLAN2 wireless LAN users to access TCP/IP-based UNIX
host servers through Wollongong's PathWay TCP/IP protocol software
products.

The PathWay Access product, a suite of TCP/IP applications which enable PCs
running Windows or DOS to access remote applications and to share
resources with a wide range of computer systems through a network, in
combination with Proxim's RangeLAN2 wireless communications products,
wirelessly link mobile PCs with TCP/IP-based host servers. This is
accomplished when a DOS-based PC is connected by Ethernet to the
TCP/IP-based host system -- typically, a UNIX server -- in conjunction
with PathWay Access software. The addition of TCP/IP connectivity means
mobile computers can now perform most of the same operations available on
UNIX-based networked PCs, including multitasking, terminal emulation,
electronic mail and file transfer.

"As open systems platforms are of increasing importance to value added
resellers serving the wireless community, we are pleased to announce the
compatibility of Proxim and Wollongong products," said David King,
president and CEO of Proxim. "Wollongong's PathWay products are an
excellent solution for vertical markets which function primarily on UNIX
platforms, yet are interested in moving to wireless applications."

"The Wollongong Group is pleased to be part of the solution to the needs of
the wireless community through the combination of the strengths of our
products with those of Proxim's RangeLAN2 family," said Joel R. Carter,
Wollongong's director of OEM and strategic sales. "Wollongong's PathWay
family of products, with its flexible, modular architecture smoothly
integrates into wireless environments, and provides OEMs and VARs with
leading-edge TCP/IP connectivity for mobile computing."

The potential for wireless communications products linked to UNIX
environments has been especially apparent to VARs serving vertical markets
such as universities, government offices and the medical field. By linking
DOS and UNIX environments through the TCP/IP protocol, Proxim products can
tap into the open system client/server environment and can access a wide
range of platforms including IBM mainframes, DEC VAXes, UNIX systems and
PC networks.
