CRI-X2 COMPRESSION DRIVER

DATA COMPRESSION BREAKTHROUGH ASTOUNDS CD-ROM INDUSTRY

Atlanta, GA... May 23, 1994... CD ROM-USA, Inc. and Stac Electronics
announced last week an agreement combining innovative software from both
companies into a package that allows real-time compression technologies to
be used with CD-ROM discs. Stac Electronics, the leader in data
compression technology, has licensed the use of Stacker Anywhere to CD
ROM-USA, Inc., whose compression driver known as CRI-X2, triples the rate
of data compression on the type of databases and text files typically
stored on CD-ROM. Compression rates have reached 15:1 using this
breakthrough technology.

CD ROM-USA, Inc., has developed a method of accessing volumes compressed by
Stacker located on CD-ROM discs. The process, so unique that a patent is
pending, increases the capacity of CD-ROMs far beyond the 660 MB limit.
"We are excited to make this announcement with Stac. It is our goal to
provide users with leading edge techynology solutions for their CD-ROM
environments. With the combination of Stac's expertise in hard drive
compression and our software solution, users now have a valuable tool for
data storage and retrieval," said Roger Hutchinson, President and CEO of
CD ROM-USA, Inc.

CRI-X2 CAN INCREASE DATA STORAGE UP TO 15 TIMES!

The CRI-X2 Driver (patent pending) provides a graphical user interface
that, in conjunction with Stacker Anywhere technology, enables the user to
compress high volumes of data onto an unmodified, standard CD-ROM and
subsequently access that compressed data directly from the CD-ROM with no
loss of performance. Minimal compression ratios are in the magnitude of
3:1, however, depending on the specific data, those ratios can exceed
15:1.

NO MODIFICATIONS TO EXISTING HARDWARE REQUIRED

The CRI-X2 solution provides protection for current hardware investments
because non modifications are required to existing hardware. "This was not
possible before, because a CD-ROM's file system was not compatible with
the FAT (File Allocation Table) file system of MS-DOS operating systems,"
said Lisa Weber, Vice President of Marketing for CD ROM-USA, Inc. "Our
users will see incredible performance enhancements with CRI-X2, especially
those needing compression of text and picture images." There is no need to
have Stacker Anywhere on the system since both CRI-X2 and Stacker Anywhere
are bundled and loaded on the hard drive during the initialization of the
computer at boot-up. CRI-X2 is compatible with any PC, 8086 through
Pentium.

A MAJOR DATA STORGE BREAKTHROUGH FOR ORGANIZATIONS REQUIRING MASSIVE DATA
AND RETRIEVAL CAPABILITIES

Organizations that utilize large data bases have found the CRI-X2
technology particularly useful. For example, a standard CD-ROM disc can
store the equivalent of 330,000 standard 8 1/2" x 11" single-spaced pages.
Utilizing CRI-X2 technology, the amount of data can be a multiple of that,
thus saving storage and disc charges and enhancing accessibility of data.

CD ROM-USA, Inc. is a Golden, Colorado-based software company that has
pioneered compression technology and custom applications for the CD-ROM
marketplace. Stac Electronics, Inc., based in Carlsbad, California, is the
industry leader in hard drive compression technologies.
