Network General Certifies Dolch Power Portables
Expandable Platforms for Expert Sniffer Network Analysis

Milpitas, CA; July 27, 1994--Today, Dolch Computer Systems announced
certification of the company's 4-slot PAC 60 and 2-slot PAC 61 Power
Portables for integration of the Network General Sniffer line of network
analysis tools. Dolch is the leader in ruggedized portable platforms that
are specifically designed for industrial and high-end commercial
applications. The company's PAC (Portable Add-in Computer) series features
high-performance 486 and Pentium CPUs, and provides up to eight open-slots
for custom tailored system expansion. Network General is the industry's
leading supplier of analysis and monitoring equipment for troubleshooting
and maintaining peak performance on today's highly complex computer
networks.

PAC Power Portables

Since 1987, Dolch has pioneered a whole new concept in portable computers
that differentiates Power Portables from all others by much higher
performance, larger memory capacity, greater expansion capability, and the
best of flat-panel displays. They are targeted at highly sophisticated
users who require desktop-type performance and expandability in a
ruggedized portable package. The Network General certified PAC 60 and PAC
61 are specially tailored versions of Dolch's highly successful, 5-slot
PAC family, and the new 2-slot L-PAC (Lightweight-PAC) family. These
custom systems feature 66 Mhz 486 CPUs and are based on Dolch's PAC
486-66E with EISA expansion slots. On the PAC 60 and 61, Dolch offers the
industry's most dazzling active matrix TFT with a palette of 1.7 million
colors. Dolch platforms are ideal for companies such as Network General
who wish to create portable solutions with their highly sophisticated PC
based instrumentation. "The Dolch PAC 60 provides our customers with a
rugged portable system that can accommodate all four Sniffer network
topologies simultaneously: Ethernet, token ring, SIA, and FDDI SAS,"
according to a Network General Marketing Communique.

Expert Sniffer Network Analyzers

The Network General Expert Sniffer Network Analyzer is a vital network
management tool that helps maintain, troubleshoot, fine-tune, and expand
multi-topology, multi-protocol networks. It observes segments, learns
their unique characteristics, and automatically uncovers a wide variety of
problems. Once problems are discovered, the Expert Analysis application
quickly pinpoints their origins, providing the shortest time to complex
problem resolution. The Expert Sniffer family supports all major network
types: Ethernet, token ring (16/4 Mbps), internetwork (up to 2,048 Mbps),
and FDDI. Protocol interpreters for over 140 protocols are provided,
including TCP/IP, Novell NetWare, DECnet, Sun NFS, XWindow, IBM SNA,
AppleTalk, Banyan VINES, OSI, NetBIOS, OS/2 LAN Manager, 3Com 3+Open,
XNS/MS-Net, and IBM LAN Server.
