FASTER THAN A SPEEDING HARD DRIVE, MORE POWERFUL THAN A...
Verbatim Memory Cards Now Available In 40MB Capacity

CHARLOTTE, NC, July 5, 1994 - Smaller than a floppy disk and eclipsing
hard drive speed with ease, Flash memory cards - such as those now
available from Verbatim Corporation - are revolutionizing mobile
computing.

Verbatim now offers Flash memory cards in native capacities up to 40MB,
with an effectively doubled capacity of 80MB thanks to pre-loaded data
compression software.

"They provide instant data access, are compatible with 5 and 12 volt
systems, and allow data transportability between computers and other
electronic platforms," says Jeff Clark, memory card product manager at the
Charlotte-based image and data storage specialist.

"For mass storage applications, memory cards are fast, outstripping the
quickest disk drives by 10 times. Solid state memory cards provide data
access at 1 - 2 milliseconds, compared to disk drives at a relative
snail's pace of 18 milliseconds."

Known as PCMCIA cards, the name stands for Personal Computer Memory Card
International Association, a group that sets card standards. Clark says
this early industry standardization is driving the fast-growing market.

"These removable credit card-sized storage devices with integrated circuits
were designed for use with such small mobile computers as the Casio
Z-7000, EO/AT&T 440 and 880, Fujitsu 325 and Poquetpad, as well as
Hewlett-Packard's 95LX, 100LX and Omnibook," says Verbatim's Clark.
"IBM's Think Pad and Green PC, NEC Ultralite, Tandy Zoomer and ZEOS Pocket
PC also accept Verbatim's Flash memory cards for an easy and reliable
storage upgrade."

Verbatim offers Flash memory cards in 5, 10, 20 and 40MB capacities. Those
capacities effectively are doubled with compression software pre-loaded on
the cards. Flash mass storage cards don't require a battery to retain
data, consume very little power and therefore significantly extend the
battery life of mobile computers and personal communicators.

Nearly every new portable computer sold today offers the 68-pin PCMCIA
compatible slot. Today's easily accessible memory cards are being joined
by fax cards, modem cards and local area network cards. These cards make
mobile computers more powerful and computer upgrades as easy as popping in
a new card.
