Folio Announces Its New Certified Infobase Engineer (CIE) Program At Least
One CIE Now Required for Folio Business Partner Organizations

PROVO, Utah, June 17, 1994 -- Folio Corporation has announced it will begin
implementing a technical certification program in June through which
individuals may be trained and tested to qualify as Certified Infobase
Engineers (CIE). The new training and certification are based on Folio's
Open Infobase Architecture (OIA) and Folio VIEWS 3.1 which is due for
release by the end of June, 1994.

In a related announcement, Folio has also specified that under its new
Folio Business Partner (FBP) program, current and new FBP organizations
must have at least one Certified Infobase Engineer either on staff or as
an independent contractor. CIEs will not provide a sales or management
function within the new Folio Business Partner organizations, but will
serve solely as technical resources providing infobase solutions and
implementation to outside clients or customers within a corporate
structure.

According to Ron Hocutt, Folio's vice president of Support Services, "With
Folio VIEWS 3.1 we're taking the first step to open our core infobase
technology to third-party developers by offering API extensions to the
VIEWS client. Our current and future business partners will need to
understand the many new ways they can now use Folio's Open Infobase
Architecture to adapt information to the unique needs of their customers
and corporate organizations. The CIE program will be a valuable asset for
our reseller partners; however, the certification is not limited to
resellers. Anyone who is interested in earning the CIE designation may
take the training and complete the tests to qualify."

According to Lance McIntosh, Folio's manager of Education Services, "We're
implementing the Certified Infobase Engineer program for two reasons.
First, we need a system through which we can train and test reseller
organizations to ensure they understand and can give technical support for
our new Open Infobase Architecture and Folio VIEWS 3.1. And secondly, we
have a large demand from corporate customers who want to train selected
employees as inhouse technical experts for their enterprise-wide infobase
applications."

Certification Process

Candidates may certify as a Folio CIE in one of two ways, both requiring a
two-part testing procedure based on Folio VIEWS 3.1 and Open Infobase
Architecture:

* A few candidates with the necessary prerequisite experience may be able
to "test out" of taking the classes. The tests consist of a written exam
covering infobase concepts and procedures, as well as the successful
completion of an infobase project.

* Most candidates will attend a three-day certification course that will be
offered throughout the country starting in June. The testing will be
administered separately through an independent testing organization.

According to McIntosh, "After completing the training and certification,
CIE recipients will be able to do more than just build Folio Infobase
applications. CIEs will have a complete understanding of the new Open
Infobase Architecture plus all the available tools that Folio provides to
create infobase applications. CIEs will be prepared to serve as a valuable
technical resource to clients or people within their corporation who need
to know the options and solutions that are available using infobase
technology.

"The CIE will know where these options and solutions can be found without
necessarily being the person to implement every project. For example, the
CIE will understand the ranges offered by the new APIs in Folio VIEWS 3.1
but may not be the person who develops the front-end for the APIs. The CIE
does not need to be a developer, but should be engaged in technical work
that regularly includes infobase design and implementation."

Class Schedule for Summer, 1994

The first CIE certification courses are scheduled as follows:

* June 22-24, Chicago
* July 6-8, Washington
* July 27-29, New York City
* August 2-4, San Jose

Additional training dates for the fall and winter months will be announced
later.

Information and Enrollment

Due to the hands-on format of the classes, enrollment is limited. The
$895.00 enrollment fee for the three-day workshop includes course
materials and use of in-class computers. Travel expenses are not included.
The training is held at facilities close to hotels and restaurants. For
more information or to enroll, call at (800) 543-6546.
