DCA's IRMA WORKSTATION FOR MACINTOSH

NOW WITH SUPPORT FOR Power Macintosh, MICROSOFT'S SNA SERVER AND Full
Integration with MacMainframe

July 18, 1994 -- ALPHARETTA, Ca. -- Digital Communications Associates Inc.
(DCA) today announced IRMA Workstation for Macintosh 4.0 (IWM),
Macintosh-to-mainframe software that now includes native mode support for
Apple's Power Macintosh, client support for Microsoft's SNA Server and
integrates the functionality of MacMainFrame (MMF), acquired during the
Avatar/DCA merger, offering users the widest range of
Macintosh-to-mainframe functionality available on the market today.

"DCA, the leader in Macintosh-to-mainframe connectivity, now offers our
customers the most versatile, feature-rich product on the market," said
Tom Lenahan, DCA's director of marketing, IBM Communications Product
Division. "IWM 4.0 provides current and future IWM and MMF customers with
increased functionality and connectivity options and a smooth migration
path for the future. We are pleased that we continue to lead the way in
providing Macintosh-to-host connectivity software."

"We are pleased to see vendors such as DCA introducing products like IWM to
support the Power Macintosh systems, signifying the increasing acceptance
for the newest Macintosh systems by both the developer and user
communities," said Brian Mellea, Power Macintosh Evangelist, Apple
Computer. "The Power Macintosh systems will allow users to run
applications two to four times faster than before."

"Microsoft worked closely with DCA to develop a full-featured Macintosh
client to Microsoft SNA Server," said Vesa Suomalainen, product line
manager for IBM host connectivity at Microsoft. "DCA's IRMA Workstation
for Macintosh integrates tightly with the new version of Microsoft SNA
Server (version 2.1), currently in final beta testing. IWM can connect to
SNA Server via native Appletalk, using the TN3270 protocol or via DLC
using the DSPU feature of SNA Server."

IWM 4.0 supports both Power Macintosh and traditional 680x0 Macintosh
systems. IWM automatically detects the Macintosh environment and loads the
appropriate software. Users with traditional 680x0 Macintosh computers can
upgrade to the latest release of IWM to benefit from the increased
functionality and be prepared to upgrade their Macintosh systems when they
choose.

Through a direct Appletalk connection,

IWM 4.0 will support the upcoming release of Microsoft's SNA Server on the
Windows NT Advanced Server -- expected later this fall -- further
enhancing users' host connectivity options. IWM 4.0 supports Microsoft's
currently shipping version of SNA Server as an 802.2 standalone
workstation.

"We feel that as the market leader in Macintosh connectivity products, DCA
is uniquely positioned to offer a product that will meet our customers'
needs," said Suomalainen.

In addition to support for Apple's and Microsoft's products, IWM 4.0 now
has increased the number of default connectivity sessions to 8, which may
be programmatically increased to 16, enabling users to access even more
host applications than ever before.

Other enhancements include keyboard remapping of all keys and a floating
active keyboard window. Users can remap all keys on the keyboard and then
display them in a floating window, making it easy for users to select the
proper Macintosh keys for their host applications.

IWM 4.0 will run on all existing DCA, Avatar and Tridata hardware allowing
current customers to upgrade or trade-up their Macintosh hardware when
they are ready. In addition to host connectivity through Microsoft's SNA
Server, IWM supports CUT and DFT as well as Novell's Netware for SAA,
IRMALAN and the Netway and MMF Gateways, offering users a wide variety of
connectivity options to meet their unique environment.

IWM 4.0 has a suggested retail price of $425 ($525 Canadian) and will be
available in July through DCA's standard distribution network. Pricing
outside North America depends on the local market. Current users of IWM or
competitive software can upgrade or trade-up to IWM 4.0 for $125.
Customers who purchased IWM 3.1.1 recently may be eligible to upgrade to
IWM 4.0 free of charge through DCA's Sales Operations.
