ENSONIQ Introduces the KT-76 Synthesizer with 64-voice Polyphony

MALVERN, PA, July 25, 1994--ENSONIQ introduces the KT-76, its first MIDI
synthesizer workstation to feature 64-voice polyphony. The KT-76 is the
only instrument available with 64-voice polyphony, a 76-key weighted
action keyboard, onboard sequencing, and General MIDI compatibility.

With increased polyphony and a 76-key weighted action keyboard, the KT-76
successfully emulates the performance characteristics and sound of an
acoustic piano . It also has the benefits of a MIDI synthesizer with a
broad range of sounds and advanced, yet easy-to-use performance and MIDI
master controls.

Increased Polyphony Sixty-four voice polyphony provides more notes for
playing bigger chords and longer sustained passages. It provides enough
oscillators for creating true-to-life instrumental sounds. With increased
polyphony, musicians can create complete orchestral arrangements, play
live with the sequencer, or use multi-layered sounds without losing
notes.

76-Key Weighted Action Keyboard The 76-key keyboard has the same design as
ENSONIQ's popular KS-32 and TS-12 synthesizers. Its flying-action weighted
mechanism simulates the weight and throw characteristics of a real piano
hammer. Musicians can customize the feel of the KT-76 to match playing
styles by selecting from 14 velocity curves and 4 pressure settings.

Two Sampled Pianos

The KT-76 has two sampled pianos in ROM--a bright, pop-oriented
Bosendorfer, and a warm, classical nine-foot Baldwin grand. These two
instruments have been carefully sampled to provide a balanced set of
performance pianos.

Sounds

There are 308 onboard sounds for performing any style of music, which
include a broad range of authentic instrument and modern synthesized
sounds. Also included are 128 General MIDI sounds with 10 GM/GS drum kits.
New sounds are available using PCMCIA sound cards developed exclusively
for the KT-76. Each card features 160 new sounds, demo sequences, and
Performance Presets (sound combinations).

With the KT's 13 pre-programmed effects algorithms (based on ENSONIQ's
award-winning DP/4 Parallel Effects Processor and TS Series), musicians
can shape sounds and create the desired atmosphere for their music.

Sounds are logically arranged and categorized by instrument families, with
all piano sounds grouped together, brass sounds grouped together, and so
forth. ENSONIQ's exclusive SoundFinder quickly searches through onboard or
card sounds by musical category to help musicians easily locate and choose
a specific sound.

Performance Controls

Performance Presets combine and save up to eight sounds along with
corresponding performance and effects parameters. They are used to create
and save keyboard splits or layers of internal/external MIDI sounds, and
are ready for instant recall during performance.

The KT-76 also acts as a master controller for a complete MIDI system. A
one-touch Make Default Preset button automatically arranges tracks for
MIDI control.

The KT-76 also features Transpose Keyboard, a new ENSONIQ performance
feature. It instantly transposes music being played live on the keyboard
to any other key with the touch of a button.

Sequencer

The KT-76 has a 16-track onboard sequencer which records up to 6,500 notes
for storing up to 70 sequences and 30 songs. Industry standard PCMCIA RAM
cards (512K) can be used to expand sequencer memory and for storage. Each
card has two banks, each containing 70 sequence and 30 song locations for
a total of over 100,000 notes, plus 160 sound locations. Cards provide
convenient, direct access to more memory and storage with no need to
download.

The KT-76 sequencer includes the same exceptionally easy-to-use features
found in other ENSONIQ instruments. It records in real time, by step
entry, and does drum machine-style looped recording. Among editing
features are Overdub, Auto Punch, Range Editing, Event Editing, and
Mixdown. The musician always has the choice of auditioning edits before
deciding to save them.

General MIDI

The KT-76 is fully General MIDI compatible for playing back music received
from a personal computer, hardware sequencer, or any other General MIDI
device. Increased polyphony gives the KT-76 high-quality, realistic
General MIDI sounds because more than one oscillator can be used to make
each sound. The result is richer sounds for better-sounding GM music.
Extra polyphony also provides more notes for playing along with GM music,
which is done by disabling reception on selected channels.

Other Features

The KT-76 also features 33 ROM Pitch Tables covering a wide range of
ethnic, period, exotic, or modern tunings. The keyboard is ergonomically
designed for physical ease and comfort, with Mod and Pitch wheels placed
at an angle for easy reach during performance. In addition, the headphone
jack is conveniently placed on the front panel, and the KT-76 features a
large, brightly-lit LCD screen making it easy to read.

A single damper pedal is included with the KT-76. The optional SW-10 foot
pedal can be programmed for sustain, sostenuto, and sequencer start-stop.
The optional CVP-1 pedal provides volume or real-time control of
modulation parameters. The KT-76 also has an optional MS-l music stand
which can be attached and detached to the instrument as needed.

The KT-76 retails for $2,495.00 and will be available in late July.
