MOLDFLOW PROVIDES FULL RANGE OF PREDICTIVE ANALYSIS TOOLS ON WINDOWS

Moldflow announced the introduction of its Dynamics Series for Windows
software package at NPE '94 in Chicago. The Moldflow Dynamic series for
Windows is a suite of predictive analysis tools that work together to
optimize the total process of producing a plastic part. Six Moldflow
analysis tools are new to the Windows operating system: MF/WARP isolates
and controls part warpage; MF/STRESS ensures the part meets structural and
performance specifications; MF/SHRINK determines shrinkage to enable
accurate mold cavity sizing; MF/GAS optimizes plastic and gas flow for gas
injection molding; MF/TSETS optimizes thermoset molding; MF/OPTIM
automatically determines optimum machine settings.

Moldflow's plastics flow and mold cooling analyses (MF/FLOW and MF/COOL)
previously available on the PC, have been substantially enhanced by the
new mouse controlled graphical user interface in Windows 3.1. The Dynamic
Series gives full workstation functionality on the PC with all the
benefits of Microsoft Windows such as multitasking, easy data exchange and
printing onto any Windows standard printer. All analyses are driven from a
new mouse controlled graphical user interface based on Microsoft Windows.
Running the Dynamic Series for Windows requires a 33MHz 486 PC with a
minimum of 16 Mb RAM and 100 Mb free disk space.

The Moldflow Dynamic Series makes it possible for an engineer to assess
molding feasibility of a product design in minutes and eliminates the
guesswork from quoting. The effects of mold geometry and processing
conditions on final part dimensions and strength can be optimized before
cutting steel thus ensuring a quality part from the very first shot.
Efficient CAD model translators and a rapid 3D modeler make it possible to
generate a model in a very short period of time. Optimization analyses
refine product design, mold design and key processing parameters and can
run concurrently with initial tooling. Wall thicknesses, runner dimensions
and cooling line geometry are fine tuned and cavities are sized to produce
parts of known dimensions and appearance. Analysis functions are
automated, making optimization faster and easier while evaluating more
options than mold trials could possibly provide. To help track analysis
work, Moldflow's on-line project manager graphically charts the stages of
work that have been completed in the optimization process, launches
analyses and displays results from a controlled, centralized source.
